CONNECTICUT: Connecticut socialite Michelle Troconis found herself in a flood of tears as she was branded "the most hated woman in America" during a recently surfaced police interview.
The Venezuelan national is entangled in the mysterious 2019 disappearance of her late boyfriend's ex, Jennifer Farber Dulos, with her trial set to commence in Connecticut Superior Court this Thursday, January 11.
Jennifer Dulos's vanishes amid custody battles
Jennifer, a 50-year-old writer and mother-of-five from New Canaan, vanished after dropping her children off at school on May 24, 2019. Amid a contentious child custody battle and divorce proceedings with her real estate developer husband, Fotis Dulos, accusations arose that Fotis brutally murdered her and disposed of her body.
Troconis, 49, who was in a long-term relationship with Fotis at the time, faces charges of conspiracy to commit murder, tampering with physical evidence, and hindering prosecution. Her trial comes after Fotis took his own life in January 2020, leaving Troconis to confront the legal consequences alone.
A former TV host in South America and a mother herself, Troconis vehemently denies all charges. In a series of police interrogations in June 2019, she faced intense questioning about Fotis's whereabouts during Jennifer's disappearance.
Michelle Troconis breaks down into tears
During one particularly poignant moment, a detective tried to coax information from Troconis, emphasizing the public disdain towards her: "I'll be honest with you. You're probably one of the most hated women in America right now. And I'm not being mean. So this is like the golden ticket," the official said according to Daily Mail.
Footage from these interrogations shows Troconis visibly distressed, with tears streaming down her face. Despite maintaining her innocence and insisting she knows nothing about Jennifer's fate, Troconis faces a challenging trial, with prosecutors alleging her involvement in the crime.
Jennifer's body has never been found, but investigators believe Fotis attacked her in the garage of her rented home before allegedly disposing of her body with Troconis. The discovery of blood in the garage and Jennifer's abandoned car raises chilling questions about the events leading to her disappearance.
