WASHINGTON, DC: Mike Davis, the former Chief Counsel for Nominations to Senate Judiciary Chairman Chuck Grassley and the founder-president of the Article III Project, has issued a stern warning to media outlets and Democrats regarding the language used to describe former president Donald Trump.

In a series of tweets, Davis cautioned against labeling Trump as a "convicted felon," suggesting that doing so could lead to legal consequences.

Mike Davis asserts Donald Trump is 'not a convicted felon'

Mike Davis' warning came amidst developments in Donald Trump's hush money case.

The Manhattan District Attorney's office recently indicated that they would not oppose Trump's request to delay sentencing until after the November presidential election.

This request was made after Trump argued that the sentencing should be postponed while he appealed an unfavorable immunity ruling.

In response to the prosecution's position, Davis took to social media to emphasize that Trump's legal status should not be misrepresented.

Quoting from a court letter, Davis stated, "Trump is not a convicted felon," and insisted that because Trump admitted evidence subject to presidential immunity, Judge Juan Merchan "must declare a mistrial."

Davis continued by issuing a warning to the media and political opponents.

"Dear Media and Other Democrat Operatives: Fair warning: Calling Trump a 'convicted felon' is defamatory. You may get sued," Davis wrote on X, the platform formerly known as Twitter.

DA Alvin Bragg doesn't oppose Donald Trump's delay in hush money case sentencing

Donald Trump has demanded a delay in his hush money conviction sentencing until after the November presidential election.

A ruling is expected by September 16, two days before Trump’s sentencing.

Mahanntan DA, Alvin Bragg's office, responding to Trump’s delay request said they would not oppose delaying Trump's hush money case sentencing.

"Nonetheless, given the defense’s newly-stated position, we defer to the Court on whether an adjournment is warranted to allow for orderly appellate litigation of that question, or to reduce the risk of a disruptive stay from an appellate court pending consideration of that question,” state lawyer Matthew Colangelo wrote in the filing as per The Hill.

Internet reminds Mike Davis that Donald Trump is a convicted felon

Despite Mike Davis' caution, many social media users were quick to challenge his claims, openly defying his warning of mislabeling Donald Trump.

One X user responded directly to Davis, writing, "Trump is a convicted felon. Sue me." Another added, "Sorry, not sorry, Mike . . . Trump IS a convicted FELON."

Several others echoed this sentiment, with one stating, "One way to get 'Trump is a convicted felon' trending is to threaten us with a defamation lawsuit. Trump IS a convicted felon. Bring it."

Someone else wrote, "Trump is a CONVICTED FELON. That's a FACT. Trump was CONVICTED on 34 felony counts. I challenge Donald Trump to sue me. I will continue to post that Trump is a CONVICTED FELON because Trump IS a Convicted Felon."

"Oh, and to the people who constantly claim that I'm being divisive for calling Trump a CONVICTED FELON, wrong, you are being divisive for supporting someone for president who committed crimes against fellow Americans. I'm being FACTUAL!"

Others chimed in, with one user writing, "Trump is a CONVICTED FELON! I double dare you to sue me!"

Another mocked Davis, saying, "The audacity," for suggesting that Trump was not a convicted felon.
