MILWAUKEE, WISCONSIN: Milwaukee authorities have finally apprehended Romaun Moye, a 45-year-old man charged in connection with the brutal death of his 12-year-old son, Jacarie Robinson, who succumbed to starvation in October 2023.
The arrest took place over the weekend, culminating in a lengthy manhunt initiated after a warrant was issued for Moye's arrest, reported WTMJ.
Jacarie Robinson's tragic death exposes disturbing living conditions
Jacarie's lifeless body was discovered inside Moye's residence near 39th and Elmhurst on October 10, 2023. Investigators, upon entering the home, described it as a place of horrors with disturbing conditions.
"The conditions inside the house were unlivable," Milwaukee Police Detective Michael Driscoll said. "Human feces, urinating in jugs, the smell, the mold."
Romaun Moye's shocking control tactics
The officer recounted how Moye, in a position of control, subjected his three children to appalling conditions. He allegedly employed food as a form of punishment, imposing strict rules on meal times and deeming Jacarie "bad" simply for experiencing hunger.
Tragically, two weeks before Jacarie's body was discovered, his siblings were sent away. Suspicion arose when an older brother returned to find Jacarie covered with a blanket on the living room floor, in an advanced state of decomposition.
"There are cases you don’t forget. Ones that stick with you," Driscoll claimed. "All cases are big, but this one has deeply disturbed everyone involved," reported Fox.
Milwaukee police's pursuit of justice for Jacarie Robinson
Charged with first-degree reckless homicide, Moye faced a warrant for his arrest, prompting a vigorous manhunt by Milwaukee police. "A person like this needs to stand before justice," Driscoll stated.
Moye made his first court appearance on Monday, February 26, where a judge set bond at $500,000. His preliminary hearing is scheduled for the following Monday afternoon. If convicted, Moye could face up to 82 years in prison and a $45,000 fine.
