LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Minnie Driver advocated for the imprisonment of former President Donald Trump, stating that the Republican candidate merits incarceration. She also accused his supporters of favoring "racism."

The actress, in an interview with The Sunday Times published on Saturday, July 6, delved into US politics, a topic she was familiar with from her time living in Los Angeles before her recent return to the UK.

Minnie Driver not keen to relocate to the US if Donald Trump is reelected

Driver began by stating that California is a great place for a liberal like herself, but noted that it's isolated. She sometimes feels the need to move to a Republican-led state to advocate for significant issues.

Driver, however, stated that she would not relocate to such a state if Trump won the November election, as it would not be a viable living environment for her, TMZ reported.

"If I lived in a red [Republican] state, no, I couldn't," Driver said as per Hollywood Reporter. "But living in California, you are somewhat insulated. But do you want to go and live in a bubble? Do you run away from the fire or do you go back and help?"

Subsequently, Driver criticized Trump, stating that he deserves to be in a cell and expressing her frustration that the Founding Fathers did not disqualify convicted felons from becoming president.

Driver, speaking mere days after Trump's conviction on 34 felony counts in the New York hush money trial, stated, “Of course he deserves to be in prison — of course he does."

She further added, "But just looking at how much money he raised in that two days, $53 million in a 48-hour period, and the idea that because the founding fathers — if there had been some mothers involved perhaps it would be different — left no room in the constitution for the idea that the American people could be so stupid as to vote for a felon, there is nothing reflected in the judiciary about what would happen if he wins."

"It’s a pickle when you’ve got the Secret Service already scoping out prisons, going, ‘What would this look like?’” she said,  according to Variety.

'The Good Will Hunting' actress also commented on the surge in donations to Trump's fundraiser following his significant conviction last month, noting that it all boils down to his supporters, who now have someone to rally behind.

Driver remarked, "Revelation of the 70 million people who really quite like a bit of a racist attitude and non-existent immigration policies and dismantling the environmental agencies. And they were always there; they weren’t created by him."

"He’s just a symptom, and now they’ve got a mascot.”

Clearly, Driver does not seem inclined to collaborate with MAGA Republicans in the near future.

Donald Trump is currently awaiting sentencing, which is scheduled for later this month, after being found guilty on 34 counts of falsifying business records. He has repeatedly criticized the conviction, asserting that he was unfairly targeted by the Biden administration.
