WASHINGTON, DC: Video footage released by House Republicans on Monday, June 10, revealed that former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi blamed herself for the absence of National Guard personnel at the US Capitol Building on January 6, 2021, according to the New York Post.

The video clip, which was shot for an HBO documentary by Congresswoman Pelosi's daughter Alexandra, showed Pelosi fuming about the lack of 'accountability' and taking 'responsibility' for inadequate security ahead of former President Donald Trump's 'Stop The Steal' rally, as rioters stormed the congressional office.

In the video, as they are driven out of the Capitol in a car, Pelosi can be heard instructing her chief of staff, Terri McCullough, "We have responsibility, Terry. We did not have any accountability for what was going on there, and we should have. This is ridiculous."

Then Pelosi seemed to chastise McCullough for asking her if they should summon the National Guard amid the turmoil.

The former House Speaker said, "You’re gonna ask me in the middle of the thing, when they've already breached the inaugural stuff, 'should we call the Capitol Police?' I mean the National Guard. Why weren’t the National Guard there to begin with?"

Notably, The California Democrat found McCullough's explanation—'they thought that they had sufficient resources'—unsatisfactory.

Pelosi said, "It’s not a question of how they had … they don’t know! They clearly didn’t know, and I take responsibility for not having them just prepare for more."

Politico reports that the interaction was a portion of around 45 minutes of video that was just provided to the House Administration oversight panel, which is under GOP control.

Democratic leadership had reservations about the 'optics' of keeping National Guard troops stationed at the Capitol Building during the summer 2020 'Black Lives Matter' protests, according to a House Republicans-authored report on the incident published in 2022.

In the days that followed the incident, the chief of Capitol Police, and the Sergeant at Arms of the House and Senate, all resigned.
