LAFAYETTE, INDIANA: The case of Natalia Grace has now claimed a breakthrough following a recent DNA test seemingly confirming her real age.

The Ukrainian orphan, who gained international attention, was accused by her adoptive American parents of attempting to kill them.

What is Natalia Grace's real age?

According to ET, Grace is approximately 22 years old, as per the blood test conducted by the medical lab TruDiagnostic which also suggested that she was adopted by Michael and Kristine Barnett when she was nine years old.

Grace, who was adopted by the Indiana couple in 2010, was believed to be around 20 years old at the time of the lab work in August 2023.

Natalia Grace said the Barnetts 'ruined a kid's life'

The adoptive parents claimed that Grace was not a young child but an adult. However, the mysterious case has now taken a new turn with Grace's revelations.

In the premiere episode of 'The Curious Case of Natalia Grace', Grace spoke about the DNA test as she said, "This one little piece of paper throws every single lie that the Barnetts has said right into the trash with a match."

"This is so big. Because literally, this has been 13 years of just two people lying their butts off. They ruined a kid’s life. They painted [me] as some big monster," she added.

"It just proves that I was not lying about my age," she added. "They ignored everything that was pointing to the truth just so they could create this stupid lie. They knew it and they still did what they did," Grace said emotionally.

Grace's tumultuous relationship with the Barnetts was first explored in May 2023 on ID through the docuseries 'The Curious Case of Natalia Grace' which featured interviews with Grace's adoptive parents and other members of the adoptive family.

As per the ID press release, this docuseries lays emphasis on "Natalia’s perspective, offering insight into what really went on behind closed doors in the Barnetts' home and how much truth there actually is to their claim Natalia was not a six-year-old Ukrainian orphan with a rare genetic disorder, but rather a homicidal adult intent on harming them and their children."

In an exclusive clip of the series, Grace said, "'She just adopted a little girl from the Ukraine who has dwarfism and has all these different medical issues and everything like that. You know, she's a great mom for wanting to help somebody, right?.'"
