LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Morrissey's admirers recently became aware of the reason behind his sudden cancellation of some performances, including two in Southern California.

In honor of the 20th anniversary of his highly anticipated album, 'You Are The Quarry,' The Smiths frontman was supposed to perform at the Honda Center in Anaheim on Friday, January 26, and at the Kia Forum the following night.

However, they were abruptly canceled, with the initial explanation being that there were "unforeseen circumstances".

Morrissey's manager revealed on social media that the artist was receiving medical attention following a bout of "physical exhaustion".

Tour manager Donnie Knutson for the legendary crooner wrote, "He has been ordered to rest for two weeks, and he will remain in Zurich."

In just 20 minutes, Morrissey left the stage during his final performance at the Greek Theater in Los Angeles, telling the crowd, "Sorry, but due to unforeseen circumstances, the show is not going to continue. Very sorry. We’ll see you next time. Apologies," per Independent.

Morrissey is still anticipated to make his seven scheduled appearances in South America and Mexico next month.

The British musician would have performed the complete 2004 album 'You Are the Quarry' at this week's postponed gigs to commemorate the album's 20th anniversary.

Morrissey co-founded The Smiths in 1982

The Englishman from Davyhulme, Lancashire, co-founded The Smiths in 1982, and the band went on to win over a devoted fan following who were enthralled by guitarist Johnny Marr's captivating music, singer Morrissey's dark baritone voice, and unique lyrics.

Later regarded as the darlings of indie music, the group attracted followers from all over the world and released four successful studio albums in the UK, per Daily Mail.

Following his solo career, Morrissey put out 13 studio albums between 1988 and 2019, one of which, 'You Are The Quarry,' was a major hit album that marked his comeback after a seven-year break from recording.

Morrissey has also finished two new studio albums, 'Bonfire Of Teenagers,' which is ready for release, but Capitol Records wouldn't officially announce when it will be released.

After splitting from Capitol, Morrissey worked on an album titled 'Without Music The World Dies,' which was finished in February 2023 and made available to any record labels or individual investors who would distribute the ten new tracks.
