'Nobody cares': Kim Kardashian mocked for sharing close-up of 'painful' psoriasis rash on leg
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Kim Kardashian is now offering her fans an honest glimpse inside her more than decade-long fight with psoriasis after justifying her use of tanning beds to treat the chronic skin condition.
The 'Kardashians' star disclosed to her 364 million Instagram followers on Tuesday, January 30, that she is currently suffering from a particularly "painful" episode of the skin condition, which results in a rash with itchy, scaly spots.
Psoriasis is an autoimmune disease characterized by excessive skin cell proliferation, which leads to a typically scaly, itchy, and inflammatory skin rash, per Mayo Clinic.
Kim Kardashian was diagnosed with psoriasis in 2011
The 43-year-old reality TV actress, who received a diagnosis in 2011, posted a video of her most recent "painful" psoriasis flare-up on her right calf on Tuesday.
Kim stated that she has not changed her diet recently—which was the reason for another of her significant outbreaks in 2022—so she is "not sure" what caused the recent flare-up.
She said, "How crazy is my psoriasis right now guys," as she focused on a big red spot on her leg. "It’s like all up my leg and I don’t know what’s happening but I got to figure this out… this is crazy."
Kim stressed how "painful" the rash is and stated that she has "tried everything" to get rid of it. "Not gonna lie this is painful," Kim wrote. "Not sure what my triggers are. I haven't changed my diet. I've tried everything! Psoriasis sucks."
While Kim usually has a small patch on her leg, she said in a different video that she uploaded to her Instagram Story that she can tell the rash is becoming worse.
She remarked, "But now I can tell it’s going down my leg and up my leg and all up my thigh. I just know it’s time to figure this out."
The SKKN founder attempted to find some silver lining despite her irritation by pointing out that the enormous red patch had the shape of a heart.
She said sarcastically, "Wait am I tripping or is my psoriasis in the shape of a heart for Valentine’s Day. Lucky me, I have a heart-shaped psoriasis," while zooming into the rash.
Kim stated that she "wanted to share my journey with you guys" as the reason behind posting the close-up videos. She used the hashtag #psoriasissucks too.
Her most recent posts were made almost two weeks after she defended her use of tanning beds to treat her psoriasis in response to criticism from her followers for endorsing the risky aesthetic procedure, per Daily Mail.
Kim Kardashian has been vocal about having psoriasis for years
For years, Kim has been transparent about having psoriasis, often sharing pictures of her flare-ups on social media.
The media mogul wrote an essay about the autoimmune disorder for sister Kourtney Kardashian's Poosh website in 2019, stating that she initially began exhibiting symptoms like arthritis in the middle of the 2000s.
She wrote at the time, "If you have psoriasis, you can’t let it ruin your life or get the best of you," per Page Six.
The reality TV personality has tried homeopathic medicines and sporadic cortisone shots to manage her symptoms, but she recently shared another strategy that has been able to control her flare-ups.
The Skims CEO took to X (previously Twitter) to address criticism she had received earlier in the month for having a tanning bed in her office and to clarify that the machine “really helps” with her autoimmune condition.
Internet ridicules Kim Kardashian's psoriasis flare-up posts
Social media users appeared unmoved by Kim's latest psoriasis flare-up posts, with one user brutally commenting on the online platform Facebook: "Shut the Hell up! Nobody cares!"
A second one mocked, "Plastic goddess is heartbroken and depressed. All the tabloids are giving attention to Taylor Swift and she can't live without publicity."
"Aw, sweetie... You need to stop thinking people care. No one feels bad for you," mocked a third one.
Another one chimed in, "Not as much pain as I feel seeing her head pop up in my feed."
"Oh no, a peice of her plastic broke off..." snarked another one.
