NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: Triumph the Insult Comic Dog, puppeteered by Robert Smigel, was present as a guest host on the December 8 episode of 'The View'. During his time on the morning show to promote his new animated film 'Leo', Smigel, through Triumph, did not miss the opportunity to take some pointed digs at the current political state of the country.

Host Joy Behar, who turned 81 this year, became one of Smigel's early targets, as the puppeteer discussed attending her 80th birthday the previous year.

What did Triumph say about Joy Behar?

After broaching the topic of the birthday, Behar asked Smigel, "Did you have a good time?"

The comic quickly made his puppet dog reply, "Oh that was tremendous. I was at Joy Behar's 80th birthday party. I performed. Oh what a night it was. It was open bar and open casket."

The other hosts of the show, as well as the audience, were taken aback at the dark humour, and audibly gasped in unison, according to The U.S. Sun.

As everyone remained stunned while processing the savage joke, Behar recovered fast and responded to the quip about her age with an eye roll.

But Smigel was far from being done.

"Joy you and I got so drunk, you and I were fighting over who got to sniff Hilary Clinton's chair," he continued, making Behar's mouth drop open and co-host Sara Haines cover hers in surprise.

"You look beautiful. She still looks beautiful, doesn't she? 81 years old now," he added, to which Behar complained, "Why do you keep saying my age?"

Joy Behar loses her cool with co-host Alyssa Farah Griffin

During the same episode, Behar got into a heated debate with Alyssa Farah Griffin, 34, while discussing reproductive rights in the light of a recent case in the media.

Behar cut in and took over when it was time for a commercial break, allowing the outro music to play over her voice for a long period.

"I want to remind people about Trump who is the presumptive nominee for the Republican party," she mentioned, "He described himself in 1999 and 2000 as pro-choice. You know he was pro-choice in the old days, okay?"

"But when running in 2016 - I saw this on television - there has to be some form of punishment for women who have abortions he said," she said.

She was interrupted by Griffin at that moment, who defended her former boss by saying, "And he was rarely condemned by pro-lifers."

This did not sit well with Behar, who raised her voice to say, "Okay! He has walked that back a little but can you trust that man? I don't think so."

As production pushed for a commercial break, Behar stopped others from joining the conversation, but in her frustration she ripped up her cue cards and threw them into the air.
