Oscar-winner Mahershala Ali reveals to Jimmy Kimmel who has the most important award in his house
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Oscar-winner Mahershala Ali amused the audience with a story about the ranking of awards in his home during a recent visit to Jimmy Kimmel's show.
The 'Blade' star recently expressed to Entertainment Weekly his positive outlook towards his forthcoming Marvel movie, where he will portray the role of the comic book vampire hunter.
The film, which is set to commence production only next year, has experienced quite a dramatic journey in its development phase. "I'm really encouraged with the direction of the project. We'll be back at it relatively soon," he said.
On the 'Late Night Show', the 49-year-old star candidly discussed the award that holds the most significance in his house.
His movie 'Leave the World Behind' was released in limited theaters on November 22 and will be available on Netflix from Friday, December 8.
Mahershala Ali's trophy tango
Mahershala Ali has been honored with numerous awards, including two Oscars, a Golden Globe, and an Emmy.
In his opening remarks, Kimmel jokingly said to Ali, "I feel like when you come out I should be handing you an award like a statuette of some kind."
He then inquired, "Where are your Oscars do you carry them around or are they at home?" The actor smiled and gently replied, "Yeah they're at home."
Kimmel then said, "I would have mine. I would crazy glue it right to the hood of my car like in order."
The host then asked the guest, "Are they in a prominent place in your home?" to which Ali replied, "They're up in sort of a more private area where our bedrooms are but they they they're on on the top of these built-ins and um so yeah they're just kind of live there."
The star added, "I know people have been curious because they're not in an obvious place but if you walked upstairs you know to one of our rooms you could see them."
'She was sure to put her trophy right in front of my Oscars'
Kimmel subsequently inquired whether Ali's awards were all displayed on a single shelf or scattered around, hinting at a collection littered with trophies.
In response, Ali shared, "There's a few trophies there's a few with with one new addition um uh this summer this past summer my my daughter had been doing gymnastics and she got a trophy and so when we got back home to California she was sure to put her trophy right in front of my Oscars."
Ali mentioned that his daughter will turn seven in February. To this, Kimmel humorously responded, "Oh that's very cute yeah but then you have to remind her 'Hey listen just so you know that mine are way better mine are a much bigger deal.'"
Ali responded, "She's very clear that her trophy is the most important trophy in the house."
