WASHINGTON, DC: Rachel Maddow kicked off her MSNBC show on Monday, August 26, by examining the contrasts between the campaigns of Donald Trump and Kamala Harris and highlighted how the former president's rallies are "getting a little bit weird".

With Harris leading Trump in polls across many crucial states, Maddow highlighted on 'The Rachel Maddow Show' how the tight race could be influenced by even minor differences in the candidates’ strategies.

According to The Wrap, Rachel Maddow delved into the peculiarities of Donald Trump’s recent public appearances in her analysis. She cited a particularly odd rally held on Friday, August 23, in Glendale, Arizona, where Trump seemed to undermine one of his staunchest supporters, Kari Lake.

Maddow began her monologue by emphasizing the key differences between Trump’s campaign and that of Vice President Kamala Harris, noting the peculiar nature of MAGA events.

Since President Joe Biden’s exit from the presidential race, Harris has seen a significant boost in popularity. Her campaign has raised $540 million since its launch in July, with campaign manager Jen O’Malley Dillon highlighting this as “the most for any presidential campaign ever".

Maddow began by emphasizing how tight the race will be despite Harris consistently outpacing Trump in polls.

“When it is this close, little differences between the candidates and their campaigns can make a very interesting, not only for an interesting contrast but can make a big difference,” Maddow explained.

She also discussed Trump’s apparent reluctance to debate Harris on September 10. Trump on Sunday night, August 25, raised the possibility that he might not show up on ABC for the debate. On his Truth Social platform, he expressed his hesitation while calling out the network's “so-called Panel of Trump Haters”.

“Why would I do the Debate against Kamala Harris on that network?” Trump had posted.

Maddow speculated that Trump’s team “may try to get all the way to the election without a single debate.”

Rachel Maddow highlights Donald Trump's bizarre rally moments

“Also worth noting that Trump’s campaign events are getting a little bit weird,” Rachel Maddow remarked. She then recounted a bizarre incident from Trump’s recent rally in Glendale.

At the event, which was meant to support Kari Lake, the right-wing Senate candidate apparently exceeded her speaking time, leading to instructions for her to vacate the stage so Trump could speak.

Maddow pointed out that photos from the event revealed a timeline where Kari Lake was several minutes past her allotted time.

“As you see there, it says minus 5:35, meaning you are five minutes and 35 seconds over your allotted time. And then it says underneath, ‘please get off the stage.’ But then look almost a minute later, there’s this other shot. Now let’s see 6:23, so she’s now six minutes and 23 seconds over her allotted time. And now the instruction to her says, ‘Please get off stage Trump waiting.’”

Maddow also noted an awkward moment during the same event when Trump received an endorsement from the Arizona Police Association.

“While the union president was making his pro-Trump remarks, basically giving the endorsement, it seems like Trump got bored or annoyed,” Maddow observed.

Trump approached the speaker, Justin Harris, and told him, “gotta go,” leading to Harris awkwardly concluding his speech.

“That’s a nice way to receive an endorsement,” Maddow quipped, before revealing the twist in the story.

The following day, the police union that had endorsed Trump announced its support for the Democratic Senate candidate in Arizona, who is running against the Republican Kari Lake.

Maddow noted that this same union had endorsed Lake in 2022.

“I mean, they had already given [Trump] his endorsement, so presumably, that one couldn’t be reeled back in,” Maddow observed.

“But you know, if this situation here, if this was Trump trying to turn on the charm to also get this Union’s endorsement for the Republican Senate candidate he was ostensibly there to support. Well, we all know how good he is at sharing the glory,” she concluded.
