Rakesh and Teena Kamal: Massachusetts parents, teen daughter found dead in 'domestic violence situation'
NORFOLK, MASSACHUSETTS: In a shocking incident in Massachusetts, a teenage girl and her parents were found dead in an apparent domestic violence incident in their $5 million mansion.
On Friday, December 29, Norfolk District Attorney Michael Morrissey stated that Rakesh Kamal, 57, his wife, Teena Kamal 54, and their daughter, Ariana, 18 were discovered dead in their home in Dover on Thursday, December 28, at about 7.30 pm.
DA stated a gun was found near Rakesh Kamal's body
According to Daily Mail, the district attorney described the incident as a "terrible tragedy" and a "domestic violence situation," stating that a gun was found near Kamal's body.
He declined to disclose the exact circumstances of their deaths and the motive for the killings.
Morrissey stated that deciding whether to refer to the deaths as a murder-suicide would be based on the medical examiner's ruling which was expected to be provided later Friday.
Who were Rakesh Kamal and Teena Kamal?
As per online records, in recent years, Rakesh and Teena have been facing financial troubles.
In 2022, the family's mansion was sold to the Massachusetts-based Wilsondale Associates LLC for $3 million, as per records obtained by The New York Post.
In 2019, the couple purchased the 19,000-square-foot estate for $4 million. The property boasts 11 bedrooms and 13 bathrooms, as per records.
The DA stated that The Kamals were the only people living in the Dover mansion at the time and added that it was one of the richest place in the state which was "a nice neighborhood, a safe community.”
The slain parents previously ran EduNova, a Massachusetts-based education systems company called EduNova.
A filing for Chapter 13 bankruptcy in 2022 which according to the document showed $1 million &10 million in terms of liabilities was filed by Teena who was a Harvard alumnus.
However, citing insufficient documentation, the case was dismissed two months later.
Who was Ariana Kamal?
Teena who was notable for her involvement with the American Red Cross of Massachusetts.
Her LinkedIn bio showed her as a professional who has had more than three decades of being part of the education and technology industries.
Meanwhile, Rakesh and Teena's daughter Ariana Kamal was a student at Middlebury College where she was studying neuroscience, according to the teenager's LinkedIn.
According to the district attorney, the bodies of the slain family members were made after a concerned relative visited their mansion, having not heard from them in one or two days.
