NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: Florida Rep Byron Donalds joined co-hosts Rachel Campos and Joey Jones to discuss the second impeachment vote for DHS Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas on the February 11 episode of 'Fox & Friends'.

The congressman also brought up the topic of government funding while speaking on the subject, questioning whether the federal administration deserves to get funded if it cannot manage to "secure this nation".

Byron Donalds is confident about impeaching Secretary Mayorkas

In response to Campos' query of whether the Republicans had the required number of votes to move ahead with the impeachment of the DHS Secretary, Donalds said, "I'm fully confident we're going to pass it this week, mostly because (House Majority) Leader Scalise will be back with us."

Scalise had been battling cancer, but his reports look good at present, shared Donalds.

Confident of the bill passing the House, he continued, "The Senate is going to have to take this up and deal with it ... they just can't ignore it ..."

The reasons for Mayorkas to not "keep his job" are clear for Ronalds, as he stated, "(Mayorkas) lied to the American people, our southern border is not secure, there's already been a million encounters at the southern border this fiscal year ... It's only going to get worse for our country. He deserves to lose his job simply because he has not followed the law, he has not faithfully executed the law, and he has perjured himself by lying to members of Congress."

Byron Donalds' swipe at government funding

The next agenda for the Republicans in the House was deciding on government funding, shared Donalds.

Calling it a "major hurdle," the congressman said that it has to be decided whether the government should be allowed to get funded "if the border remains unsecured, because the primary job of the United States government is to secure this nation".

"The way Joe Biden is failing at that, does (his administration) deserve to get funding across the board? Many members of Congress don't agree, I don't agree, with that. If Joe Biden wants to fund the government, simply secure the border and we could be done," he added.
