WASHINGTON, DC: Donald Trump’s loaded Christmas post on Monday, December 25, shared on his Truth Social platform, called for his political opponents to “rot in hell” and claimed they are “looking to destroy our once great USA.”

Trump attacked key figures in the statement on Truth Social, including global leaders, incumbent Joe Biden, and special counsel Jack Smith, who is heading the Justice Department's investigation into the former president's actions around the 2020 election and the January 6, 2021, Capitol insurgency.

House Democrats are up in arms following the former President’s Christmas message, with Michigan Rep Debbie Dingell (D-MI) calling it “one of the most pathetic” Christmas greetings she has heard.

What did Rep Dingell say about Trump’s Christmas post?

Rep Debbie Dingell joined CNN’s Sara Sidner on Tuesday to discuss a variety of issues from the border to Donald Trump.

As the interview wound down, Sidner asked Rep Dingell about the climate of political violence in the US and if things are getting worse regarding threats against public servants.

The Michigan congresswoman replied, “They’re deteriorating and they’re getting worse … Quite frankly, I’m going to tell you that I think it was one of the most pathetic Christmas greetings I’ve heard when a former president of the United States who wants to return tells people on Christmas Day that they ‘can rot in hell.'”

Dingell said Trump is "contributing to the divisiveness (and) division" in the country, referencing her spat with the former president in recent years.

Trump insulted Dingell and her late husband, former Rep John Dingell (D-Mich), in 2019, provoking outrage from lawmakers on both sides of the political divide, according to a report by The Hill.

Trump chastised Dingell for supporting his impeachment and implied that her late husband, the longest-serving member of Congress in history when he died in February, was "looking up" from hell.

“Yes, I have had people, and after he went after me, and quite frankly, there were men outside of my house with assault weapons, and I have had threats, but it is hate and division (that) are creeping into our communities far too easily,” Dingell told CNN. “Violence is becoming normalized. Every last one of us has to stand up. We can disagree civilly; we need to respect every human being with dignity.”

“We need to treat them like everybody’s a human being and bring that civility back because our democracy is in trouble if we start to let the kind of anger, violence, and division that’s creeping in be normalized more,” she added.

Trump's Christmas Day post was one of his many provocative rants in the aftermath of the Colorado Supreme Court's decision to remove him from the state's Republican primary ballot under the 14th Amendment's "insurrection clause."

The court concluded that Trump incited his followers with misleading claims of election fraud and sent them to the Capitol.

The insurrection clause forbids a person from holding any United States office if they have engaged in insurrection after swearing to "support" the Constitution as "an officer of the United States."

Following Rep Dingell's comments, Trump repeated his signature rhetoric in one of his Truth Social posts on Tuesday. "Debbie Dingell of Michigan is a LOSER, who is helping Crooked Joe Biden, and his Merry Band of Thugs, to DESTROY our Country with his INSANE Open Borders Policy, Inflation, High Cost Energy, Green New Scam, HORRIBLE WORLD DIPLOMACY, Afghanistan Catastrophe, All Electric Cars, and so much else," he alleged.

The former President went after her and her late husband by saying, "Our Country is a NO LONGER RESPECTED MESS, A NATION IN DECLINE, A FAILING, CRIME RIDDEN COUNTRY. When I gave, as President, her long serving husband, the absolute highest U.S. honors for his funeral, a really big deal, she called me, crying almost uncontrollably, to say that she couldn’t believe I was willing to do that for a Democrat. She thanked me profusely. Two months later, she was back on the trail ranting and raving about “TRUMP.” She ought to focus on how badly the Auto Workers of Michigan, and the USA as a whole, are being treated by CHINA, to which Crooked Joe Biden has given this once great industry away!"

One X user wrote, "Remember when every President past and president put out kind hopeful messages during the holiday season and tried to be an example of dignity for the country? Then a sociopath got elected and here we are."

Someone else remarked, "The party that doesn’t believe in God now has a problem."

One X user stated, "All real Christians should be too."
