WASHINGTON, DC: Peter J Hasson, editor of the conservative Washington Free Beacon, launched an investigation to verify whether Kamala Harris truly worked at McDonald's.

The Vice President has frequently shared stories from her middle-class upbringing on the campaign trail, including her experience working at McDonald's during the summer after her freshman year at Howard University in Washington, DC.

Right-wing journalist's investigation into Kamala Harris' work record

Kamala Harris has cited her McDonald's job as an example of her humble beginnings and a way to connect with voters by emphasizing her working-class background.

However, Hasson attempted to question the validity of this claim, according to Raw Story.

In his post on X, Hasson wrote, "NEW: Kamala Harris’s missing 'summer job' at McDonald’s job."

"Her resume and job application a year after graduating college — [Free Beacon] obtained through FOIA — don’t mention it. Neither do either of her books, or either of the biographies on her," he noted.

The Free Beacon report, written by Andrew Kerr, Chuck Ross, and Joseph Simonson, included scans of Harris' job application in the district attorney's office, which unsurprisingly omitted her McDonald's stint.

Harris' story resonates with many Americans, as McDonald's remains a common first job for young people across the country.

According to data from the fast-food chain, one out of every eight Americans has worked at McDonald's at some point, per ABC News.

Kamala Harris and Tim Walz draw sharp contrast with Donald Trump's background

Kamala Harris and her running mate Tim Walz have used their working-class roots to draw a stark contrast with former president Donald Trump's wealthier upbringing.

During a recent campaign event, Tim Walz took a dig at Trump, claiming that the Republican presidential nominee would not be able to cut it as a fast-food worker.

"He couldn’t run that damn McFlurry machine if it cost him anything," the Minnesota governor said.

Internet slams Paul J Hasson's investigation on Kamala Harris' McDonald's job

Paul J Hasson's attempt to discredit Kamala Harris by questioning the validity of her McDonald's job experience was met with widespread ridicule on social media.

One user on X wrote, "Wait y’all put your minimum wage high school job on your resume?" and another tweeted, "Is this is a serious criticism? It can't be. This has to be a joke."

"Do you really think it’s strange not to put McDonalds on a post-college resume? I know Republicans are now all bitter rich kids pretending to be working class but man you people are hopelessly weird," a netizen opined.

"I guess I need to put my McDonald’s year on my resume in case I run for President," an individual penned, while another remarked, "Why would you put McDonald’s on job application TO BE A LAW CLERK!?!"

"You’re suggesting that a law school graduate would put her…checks notes…McDonald’s job…on her resume for an application to the Alameda County D.A.’s office?" a user commented.
