Sam Mendes 'honored' to make 4 movies on John Lennon, Paul McCartney, Ringo Starr and George Harrison
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Celebrated director Sam Mendes has taken up the responsibility of making movies on the Beatles band members.
The ‘American Beauty’ filmmaker is going to make four separate movies, each telling stories based on John, Paul, George, and Ringo’s point of view.

All four movies will have their separate storyline
As per the team, the plot will intersect and “tell the astonishing story of the greatest band in the history.”
It will also include the end of the band in 1970 and the press release also confirmed that Paul McCartney, Ringo Starr, and the families of the late John Lennon and George Harrison have given permission and music rights for their respective movies.
“I’m honored to be telling the story of the greatest rock band of all time and excited to challenge the notion of what constitutes a trip to the movies,” Mendes, the Oscar-nominated filmmaker, said in a statement.
Sony Pictures Entertainment will be producing and distributing these four films in 2027, as per Variety.
The studio has assured that the strategy will be “innovative and groundbreaking” while talking about the release plan.
Sony Pictures on taking up the ambitious project
Other than directing the flick, Mendes will be involved in the production part too, thanks to his Neal Street Productions partner Pippa Harris and Neal Street’s Julie Pastor.
Jeff Jones will executive produce for Apple Corps Limited, the multi-media organization founded by the Beatles back in 1968.
“We intend this to be a uniquely thrilling, and epic cinematic experience: four films, told from four different perspectives which tell a single story about the most celebrated band of all time,” Harris said in a statement.
“To have The Beatles’ and Apple Corps’ blessing to do this is an immense privilege,” the statement continued.
“I know I speak for our CEO Tony Vinciquerra, who was instrumental in making this happen, and every Sony Pictures Motion Picture Group colleague around the world when I say: ‘yeah, yeah, yeah!’” said Tom Rothman, chairman and CEO of Sony’s Motion Picture Group.
“Theatrical movie events today must be culturally seismic. Sam’s daring, large-scale idea is that and then some. Pairing his premiere filmmaking team, with the music and the stories of four young men who changed the world, will rock audiences all over the globe,” Rothman added.
