ELMORE, OHIO: Jacob Hahn, 24, and Savannah Harding, 22, were declared dead at the scene after Samantha Hammons, 55, who was under the influence of alcohol, collided with their car on an Ohio road on December 9.

Hammons was arrested and currently faces charges of two counts of aggravated vehicular manslaughter. The tragic incident left the couple's nine-month-old son, Beckett Wayne, orphaned, as per DailyMail

Samantha Hammons caused a three-vehicle crash

On the fateful day, Hammons was driving at an excessive speed on Fremont Pike when she collided with the rear of the young couple's car, causing the vehicle to spin into the eastbound lane, where it was subsequently struck by another driver, as reported by the police.

Court documents from the Perrysburg Municipal Court reveal that Hammons was under the influence of alcohol before she took control of the vehicle.

At the time of the crash, Hammons' adult daughters, Heather and Asia, were in the back seat but fortunately escaped injury. Hammons herself was transported to a local hospital with minor injuries.

Hammons is currently being held in the Wood County Jail, and a judge established her bail at $500,000.

She faces two counts of aggravated vehicular homicide, a second-degree felony in Ohio. This charge entails a mandatory prison sentence of two to eight years, along with a lifetime license suspension.

Friends and loved ones remember Jacob Hahn and Savannah Harding

According to DailyMail, Dale Marie, the photographer who had intended to capture Hahn and Harding's wedding, posted a tribute on Facebook, expressing her thoughts.

She wrote, "The evening of December 9th, a future bride and groom, Savannah Harding and Jakob Hahn that booked me to capture their engagement and wedding day were victims to an unfortunate circumstance."

Marie added, "A reckless driver who failed to consider how their irresponsible actions would affect so many people took two innocent lives while traveling on route 20. They leave behind a precious 9 month old son, Beckett."

The photographer shared that at the time of their consultation, Harding emphasized the significance of including their little boy in as many photos as possible.

Brooklyn, Harding’s sister, characterized the 22-year-old and her young fiance as "the sweetest souls" and noted, "My heart aches so much now that you are gone." She pledged to fight for her sister, asserting that Hammons deserved to "rot."

Hahn’s cousin, Brooke Johnson, expressed her emotions, stating, "I’m so sad, but mostly angry. Angry that an irresponsible and reckless woman took away the lives of two very young people who truly just started living theirs."

Johnson continued, "My heart is completely broken for sweet Beckett because he will never get to know how amazing his parents were and how much they loved him. When Hahn learned that he would be a father, I could tell he was scared to death, but so happy!"

The cousin concluded the post by urging the couple to watch over Beckett and protect him from this chaotic world.
