It remains undisclosed whether the individual experienced any traumatic injuries before being placed in the freezer. Presently, the body is under the custody of the San Diego County Medical Examiner's Office.

Officials at the office are diligently investigating to determine the cause of death. The unsettling news of the family's grim discovery has reverberated through the neighboring community.

Ted Durler, a resident of Allied Gardens, shared with NBC News, "The house was draped in tape, you know the yellow caution or whatever it is tape and there were five police cars."

Neighbors call the case 'a little shocking, a little alarming'

Expressing his concern, another neighbor, Austin Cowdrey, remarked, "Wow. That's definitely concerning. Yeah, that's a little shocking, a little alarming, I would say. Stuff like that usually probably wouldn't happen in a neighborhood like this."

Cowdrey mentioned that his house is equipped with a few security cameras, but he now intends to exercise "a little bit more caution," especially during nighttime, in response to the incident.

"Just trying to keep, stay safe and make sure that doesn't happen to anybody I would know," he added.

According to a statement from the San Diego Police Department, as reported by the Daily Mail Online: "Essentially, out-of-town family members were at a residence and located a dead body inside of a chest freezer. The body is believed to be female, but no other physical details such as age or race can be confirmed until an identification is made."

As per Sky News, the police added, "Detectives are continuing to gather information to understand what happened and why the body was inside the freezer."

They are encouraging anyone with information to reach out to the SDPD’s homicide unit at 619-531-2293 or Crime Stoppers at 888-580-8477.
