Selma Blair feels ‘grateful’ despite hurting ‘all the time’ as she battles multiple sclerosis
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Selma Blair is not letting her health challenges get her down. The actress was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis (MS) in 2018.
Blair, who went into remission in 2021, shared how she is coping with her condition and another disorder called Ehlers-Danlos syndrome (EDS) on Instagram on January 29.

She wrote, “The MS is fine. I’m still in remission. I’m due for another MRI and blood work, but I seem to be doing fine.”

However, the disability rights advocate Selma Blair also revealed that she suffers from EDS, a genetic disorder that affects the connective tissues in the body and causes overly flexible joints and stretchy, fragile skin, according to the Mayo Clinic.
She explained, “The Ehlers-Danlos will make me really, really, really stiff cause I’ll pull my muscles too easily."
"This is nothing that’s like horrible, scary stuff or anything. It’s one of those extra things that turns into a chronic thing you have to watch," she added.

Selma Blair admits she hurts ‘all the time’ and gets ‘tired’ easily
The 51-year-old star, who is known for her roles in 'Cruel Intentions', 'Hellboy', and 'Legally Blonde', also opened up about the impact of her pain and fatigue on her daily life, People also reported.
Blair said, “I still get tired. I still am stiff like all the time. If I’m by myself, I do move and walk better and in open space."
"But still, I notice when I go out it’s still very pronounced when I go into different rooms, hallways or meeting new people or even focusing on talking about it,” she further said.
The 'Hellboy' star added, “I hurt all the time. I say that for you people that hurt also. Like, I get it. And for all of us just aging, it hurts.” She also noted that her symptoms can vary from day to day."
Blair continued, “I didn’t know that it could come and go like that. I was used to things being a little more linear when I was younger, or that was just the way things were.”

Despite the difficulties, Selma expressed her gratitude and optimism for the future. She wrote, “I’m doing well. Tired. When people say, ‘What do you want to do with your life?’ It still makes me sad that I just want to sleep."
"There’s no complaining. But I don’t know if I’ll ever have the coordination or balance or stamina that I want to.” She continued, “Still lucky. Still grateful. Still okay. But it’s still a bummer.”
Selma first announced that she had MS, a disease that affects the central nervous system and disrupts the communication between the brain and the body, in 2018.
She underwent stem cell transplantation in 2021 to treat the condition and went into remission.
