Seth Meyers likens Donald Trump to Jason from 'Friday the 13th' over 'one-day dictator' remark
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: 'Late Night Show' host Seth Meyers recently drew an unexpected comparison between Donald Trump and the infamous character Jason from horror movie 'Friday the 13th' over the former president's 'one-day dictator' remark.
The leading contender for the Republican presidential nomination has made statements about targeting his competitors, labeling them as "vermin". He has also pledged to retaliate if he secures a second term, attributing the prosecutions against him to political motivations, per the Gaurdian.
Donald Trump's 'one-day dictator' remark
During a televised town hall event in Iowa, hosted by Fox News' Sean Hannity, Trump was questioned twice before he denied any intentions of misusing power to exact revenge on political adversaries if he was re-elected to the presidency.
"Except for day one," Trump clarified. He allegedly plans to utilize his presidential authority to shut down the southern border with Mexico and broaden oil drilling operations.
Trump reiterated his statement, expressing his fondness for the Fox News host. "I love this guy," he said. "He says, 'You're not going to be a dictator, are you?' I said, 'No, no, no, other than day one. We're closing the border and we’re drilling, drilling, drilling. After that, I’m not a dictator.'"
Seth Meyers mocks Donald Trump
Seth Meyers showcased a clip from an interview where Trump stated, "I often say Al Capone, he was one of the greatest of all time, if you like criminals."
Meyers responded, "But let's just say, for the sake of the argument, I don't like criminals... Only Trump would give someone credit for being one of the greatest criminals of all time."
Meyers, impersonating Trump, humorously commented, "He would make a dreadful school counselor." He continued in Trump’s voice, asking, "Where do you see yourself after high school? 'Robbing liquor stores and sniffing glue?'"
He further added in Trump’s tone, "Well, the only advice I'd give is to try to be the best at it."
Seth Meyers on Trump's 'one-day dictator' remark
Trump said in the interview, "We're closing the border and we're drilling, drilling, drilling. After that. I'm not a dictator, okay?"
"Oh, well, if it's just for one day, sure, by all means. What could possibly go wrong?" reacted Meyers. "That's like Jason saying he'll only go on a murderous rampage the first day of summer camp, and then on day two, canoeing."
The host went on to speak more on Trump's 'one-day dictator' remark, saying, "So Trump just confessed it. He'll be a dictator. The one-day thing is obviously nonsense."
He continued, "If Trump assumes dictatorial powers, he's not going to immediately give them up. I'm not sure what else Trump could do to make it more obvious."
"He's made his intentions abundantly clear. At this point, the nicest thing you can say about him is that he's an aspiring dictator, he's in cognitive decline, and he's as Trump says, 'the greatest of all time, if you like criminals.'"
