RIVERIA BEACH, FLORIDA: In a startling incident this week, a West Palm Beach mother found herself in legal trouble after authorities discovered a firearm inside her 2-year-old son's lunchbox at a Riviera Beach day care center.
The incident unfolded just before noon on Thursday, March 14, at Jackson's Daycare Center on 1232 W 31st St. A teacher at the facility alerted the police after stumbling upon the weapon in the child's lunchbox.

Shanae Davis, aged 39 and identified as the child's mother, clarified to law enforcement officials that she usually keeps the firearm, identified as a Glock 43, in her glove box.
However, recent break-ins at her apartment complex compelled her to refrain from keeping the weapon in her car.
On the day of the incident, Davis confessed to placing the gun inside her son's lunchbox while getting him ready for school.

She explained that the absence of her purse prevented her from openly carrying the firearm. However, in the haste of the morning routine, she neglected to remove the gun from the lunchbox.
Upon the discovery of the firearm at the daycare, Davis was promptly contacted and requested to come to the center, reported Fox.
