LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: In an attempt to stay out of the spotlight, Shawn Mendes is said to have joined a cult. The musician reportedly enrolled in The Modern Mystery School. The singer has reportedly been quiet since postponing his world tour in the middle of 2022.

Deuxmoi claims that followers have pieced together the Canadian star's social media activity through study, as reported by Acheshowbiz.

"He has been really depressed over the past couple of years," the gossip blog stated, pointing out that the 25-year-old appears to be a little "lost" and "susceptible" at the moment. When his most recent performance didn't sell out, he decided to step away from music."

Fans' discoveries that Shawn has been hanging out with Mystery School members were also reported on the Instagram site. Deuxmoi published pictures of the purported cult members in a post on Thursday, November 30. Among them was Charlie Travers, Shawn's purported new lover.

Fan says, Shawn is 'being seen with these people regularly'

People on social media are reacting differently to the news. One person wrote, "Poor guy has been a lil lost since that breakup with miss [Camila Cabello]." Seemingly believing the report, a second user claimed, "It's 100% a cult and if he's being seen with these people regularly it's very likely he’s involved."

Taking the news seriously, another fan wrote, "Love Shawn Mendes. He does appear to be super vulnerable right now. Hopefully, he finds his way because his fans miss him. He seems to be such a positive light. I hope his family brings him back. His talents are a gift to the world. I hope he sees that he doesn't need to be part of groups like this. Because he is enough just as he is. Hoping his family supports him and he can find his way soon."

After performing seven gigs, Shawn announced in June 2022 that he was canceling the remaining dates of his "Wonder: The World Tour". He explained his decision to prioritize his mental well-being.

The 'Senorita' singer said in a statement at the time, "After speaking with my team and working with an incredible group of health professionals, it has become more clear that I need to take the time I've never taken personally, to ground myself and come back stronger."

"This doesn't mean I won't be making new music, and I can't wait to see you on tour in the future," he added, before assuring, "I promise I will be back as soon as I've taken the right time to heal."
