'Sister Wives’ star Kody Brown claims his children hate him as he is not 'madly in love with their moms'
LEHI, UTAH: Kody Brown is reflecting on the reason why he believes his children hate him.
The ‘Sister Wives’ star Kody Brown -- the patriarch of the polygamous family from Utah -- opened up about the family dynamics in the recent episode that aired on Sunday, October 6.
As reported by People, Kody got into a heated argument with one of his wives, Robyn Brown, before the camera arrived. He later got into his car and drove away. It was then that Robyn opened up about their argument.
Kody Brown opens up about his children
During the episode, Robyn shared, "I was putting pressure on Cody to work on his relationships with his kids and it triggered him and it upset him," per People.
Later, in a confessional, the 55-year-old Kody shared, "What has happened is in the divorce — in the divorces — is the ugly finger of blame has come out. 'Dad, you were never at my house’”.
He continued, "I'm sorry, I had four wives. I was at your house, though, because the other wife was complaining that I was at your house."
Nevertheless, after Kody returned from his solitary drive, the couple chatted in a calmer tone, when Robyn suggested, "I just don't know why you're not reaching out to them more.”
Robyn emphasized the need of the hour, saying that his children are “hurting."
Kody, who is a father of seventeen children, further recalled that during a recent family gathering, some of his children avoided speaking to him.
He said, "They're purposefully leaving me out of their lives to punish me for a crime I did not commit.”
"I am only guilty of not falling madly in love with their mothers,” reflected Kody.
He later continued in another confessional, "It's an unrealistic expectation for grandparents to be in their grandchildren's lives all the time," and added, "Especially if you move your children to an entirely different coast."
Though he previously avoided taking names, later in the episode, Kody accused Janelle’s daughter Madison of spreading gossip.
Kody claimed, "Every time I talk to her, she spreads gossip about me to the rest of the family," and added, "Our family was killed by gossip."
However, Madison’s mother was not of the same opinion as she refuted his claim in a confessional saying, "Cody has this narrative about Madison where she's such the gossip, but he is as big of a gossip.”
Despite the tension, Robyn’s counseling appeared to work on Kody as he said at the end of the episode, "I will work, I will reach out to, I will love those children who will allow me to do it. And in time, maybe the rest of them will come back around."
Kody Brown says he's not 'abandoning' his children
Later in the episode, Kody further claimed, “I'm not abandoning my children." Though "inadvertently," he feels that his children have betrayed him, per AOL.
Robyn said in a confessional later, “I think that Kody should be camping out on their doorsteps and saying, ‘Hey, you're going to talk to me,’” and added, “Because sometimes that's just what you got to do.”
Though Kody accepted to extend the olive branch, he shared that he would not forever wait at their doorsteps.
Confessing his “heart is broken," Kody said, “I'm not going to reach out forever. I'm willing to make the effort, but somebody else is going to have to be on the other end of that and make some effort too."
“I'm not going to camp out on somebody's doorstep," added the star decisively.
