BRONX, NEW YORK: According to sources and deeply disturbed family members, a woman from the Bronx fatally assaulted her mother with a cooking pot before disturbingly confessing to the gruesome crime during a 911 call.

When Selma Mclean, aged 46, was purportedly attacked inside her apartment in the President Adams Houses of the NYCHA in the Bronx at 3:40 am on Monday, Skydajah Patterson, aged 26, had recently been discharged from a mental health treatment facility, as per police reports and sources.

Selma Mclean was found unconscious and unresponsive with injuries

When authorities responded to the apartment, they found Mclean unconscious and non-responsive, with injuries to her face and head. Patterson reportedly told an emergency operator, "I just killed my mom," according to sources.

Sources indicate that the younger woman was still gripping the blood-stained pot when police arrived at the third-floor apartment.

According to the sources, she allegedly admitted to striking her mother in the back of the head with the kitchen utensil, resulting in her losing consciousness.

According to the police, the elderly woman was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities mentioned that while her daughter had been detained, she had not been charged by late afternoon.

Danaeyah Reynolds, aged 26 and Mclean's goddaughter, informed the New York Post that her godmother had sent her a text just before the tragic murder, expressing her fear of Patterson, who had recently been discharged from a mental hospital.

“She was in a psych ward in February until last week. She started hearing voices and started speaking in a man’s voice last night. My godmother said she was afraid," Reynolds said.

She further added, "Jamilla said she was scared because Skydajah was saying that the voices in her head were telling her that [my godmother] was dangerous. When I got here I looked in and I could see blood on the couch,” she added. “They say it was too late to resuscitate her. I opened the door and just saw blood.”

Reynolds added that Patterson's health had deteriorated since the loss of her infant son in August.

“She didn’t properly heal from it. She just wanted to be over it and be out and everything to be fine and she just kind of went forward like that. She was worrying about the break-up with the baby’s father,” the goddaughter recalled.

Skydajah Patterson attacked her mother last month as well

Reynolds asserted that last month, during the alleged attack by Patterson on her mother, her condition deteriorated further.

“It was with knives that time,” Reynolds said. “The demons, the voices in her head were telling her, ‘Your mom is out to get you, your mom is a bad person – watch out for her!’”

"She called the cops on herself. She spent two weeks in the psych ward and she came out last Tuesday,” she went on to say.

According to law enforcement sources, Patterson also had a previous "domestic incident report" from October 2022, with her mother listed as the victim.

Mclean had three daughters, but only two of them, including Pierce, resided with her. On the afternoon of Monday, March 25, the other daughter arrived at the apartment and appeared visibly distressed.

The woman punched a closed door and exclaimed, "Jaeda! My mom! My sister kills her! Last night, she killed her with a frying pan. I need my inhaler, it’s inside! I can’t breathe, God damn it, let me in!”

Rosa Medina, 79, a neighbor who had lived across the hall for the past 14 years, described the family as "very quiet."

“[Her] other daughter tells me that her sister killed the mom with a frying pan,” Medina said. “She did this last night. It is so sad. She was such a nice lady.”
