‘Struggling to believe’: Jordi and Kaitlin Vilasuso ask for 'prayers' as their newborn daughter Lucy is admitted to NICU

MIAMI, FLORIDA: Jordi Vilasuso, best known for his roles in 'The Young and the Restless' and 'Guiding Light', and his wife Kaitlin Vilasuso are requesting prayers for their newborn daughter Lucy who is in the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) with a serious lung infection.

The couple shared the heartbreaking news on Instagram along with a photo of their baby girl hooked up to various machines.

Lucy was diagnosed with RSV and a partially collapsed lung

The Vilasusos revealed that Lucy contracted respiratory syncytial virus (RSV), a common but potentially dangerous respiratory virus that affects infants and young children.

On Saturday, January 27, they posted a photo of Lucy in the NICU and wrote, “ Ah friends.. we come to you coveting your prayers yet again."

"I feel like all I do is ask you all for prayers or thank you for prayers.. I suppose that is just the season we’re in right now," they wrote in a joint post. 

It added, "We found out Monday that Lucy had RSV and by Monday night she had been admitted to the hospital w/ difficulty breathing," she wrote, as PageSix also reported. 

"Last night, things unexpectedly took a turn for the worse and she was moved to NICU w/ what the doctors described as a partially collapsed right lung. I am still struggling to believe this as I type.”

According to the Mayo Clinic1, RSV can be severe in babies under 12 months.

By Monday, January 29, Lucy continued to remain admitted to the NICU. The couple, who also have two older daughters, Riley Grace, 10, and Everly Maeve, seven, asked their fans and followers to pray for Lucy’s recovery.

“Please please pray with us for miraculous healing for Lucy’s precious little body. We love her so much and just want her home and happy and in our arms," they added in the Instagram post. 

They also thanked their family and friends for their support and love during this difficult time.

Kaitlin, 37, shared a video of Lucy sleeping with her hand on a pacifier in an Instagram story, and a photo of herself holding hands with Jordi, 42, and their other daughters.

It was captioned, “Thankful for family bedtime prayers for the first time since all of this happened…anxious to have the littlest hands in our circle back home.”

Lucy receives love from her aunt Bailee Madison

Kaitlin also posted a snap from her sister, actress Bailee Madison, who visited Lucy in the hospital and sent a sweet message to the Vilasusos which Kaitlin shared on her Instagram story.

Bailee wrote, “Thank you so much for your overwhelming love for Lucy, and all the love you have for @kaitlinvilasuso and @jordivilasuso. To say we are grateful would be an understatement."

"Lucy is still being her beautiful loving tough cookie self. Thank you for helping bring us all peace during these days," she added.

She also requested to, "please keep the love and prayers and healing energy coming.”

Kaitlin reposted it with a caption, “My angel of a sister loving on our Lucy so we could love on big girls for a few [Prayer and heart emoji].”
