Trump supporters blast Nikki Haley as she says ex-POTUS had 'opportunity to stop' Jan 6 insurrection
WASHINGTON, DC: Former South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley found herself in trouble as she recently took shots at former President Donald Trump for his response during the January 6 Capitol insurrection.
The 51-year-old presidential hopeful appeared in a dual interview with the Republican Governor of New Hampshire, Chris Sununu, on ABC’s 'This Week' where host Jonathan Karl asked her about Trump’s multiple civil cases and his behavior around the incident.
"I think January 6 was a terrible day, and I think that the tone at the top matters," said Haley during the interview that aired on Sunday, December 17.
“When Pres. Trump had the opportunity to stop it…He didn’t.”

She added, "When President Trump had the opportunity to stop it when he had the opportunity to say – the bully pulpit matters, people listen – he didn’t. I hate that for the people who were there supporting him. I hate that for those of us that were watching it," as per USA Today.
Why did Nikki Haley call Donald Trump the 'right president'?
Haley, who has frequently attacked the former president, stated that while she still believes Trump "was the right president at the right time," no one wants to live in "chaos" again in 2024.
"Looking at the situation now, our country's in disarray. The world is on fire and chaos follows him," noted the former governor of South Carolina, adding, "And we can't have a country in chaos for four more years or we won't survive it."
Additionally, she declared that she would not explicitly address Trump's criminal accusations, some of which stem from his supposed connection to the Capitol insurrection.
Haley expressed, "I’m gonna let the courts figure that out. I mean, the last thing you’re gonna see me do is weigh in or learn the details about any of his court cases because I can’t follow 91 charges."
She further asserted, "Trump is going to have to defend himself, no matter what. If he's found guilty, he's found guilty. If he's found innocent, he's found innocent."
"It would be wasted energy for me to sit there and focus on court cases and not focus on how to win that room that we just left. I am not in a court case. I’m happy I don’t have to answer for that. So, let him answer it," added the 2024 presidential hopeful.
Internet slams Nikki Haley over her remarks against Donald Trump
After Haley’s comments about Trump surfaced on the internet, many users blasted her for taking a dig at the former president over the January 6 Capitol insurrection.
One wrote, "Nikki such a poser and wannabe, a disgrace," and another added, "She just signed her death to her GOP candidacy."
A person noted, "What a waste of time. A bunch of Biden bootlickers. Not a word about Hunter or the impeachment inquiry."
"This so-called "pro-law enforcement " candidate didn't say one damm word about the men and women who were beaten, bear spayed, and kicked that day. Instead, she says there were good and bad people there. In the state of SC, the hand of one is the hand of all who commit crimes," stated a disgruntled individual.
