NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: Prince William and Kate Middleton released their Christmas card for 2023 on December 9.

The photograph taken by Josh Shinner earlier this year shows the Prince and Princess of Wales, both 41, posing with their children - Prince George, 10, Princess Charlotte, 8, and Prince Louis, 5.

The picture has stirred up a conversation, as it was in black and white and captured in a studio setting.

The royal couple typically used to share fully colored photographs taken outdoors, reported People.

The five members of the royal family are seen in matching button-down collared shirts. The girls wore jeans while the boys sported dark slacks.

Charlotte and Louis also wore matching canvas sneakers, with the former taking the center stage sitting in a chair.

"I like that it is in black and white. It looks kind of different and nostalgic," says Sunny Hostin. She makes a note of the jeans, and believes it to be 'the perfect photo'.

"Anytime they are able to get all three kids to look happy and not be making faces (is great)" began Ana Navarro, before mentioning the funny faces that Prince Louis is known for making in photographs.

However, only Alyssa Farah Griffin is able to come up with a counter opinion among those sitting at the table.

"I didn't love it as a holiday card," she states. "It is a gorgeous photo of a gorgeous family. I guess they took it earlier this year."

"It's giving normal (vibes). They are wanting to look normal but at the end of the day, they're royals. You got drown jewels, I know you have excellent decoration, you've got a castle, I want to see all of that in my Christmas photo."

Hostin asked whether it said something like "Happy Holidays" on top of the card, to which Griffin sarcastically comments, "No. It says GAP," much to the amusement of everybody.

Internet reacts to the Christmas card picture of the Prince and Princess of Wales

Social media users have contradicting takes on the photograph, as the following tweets demonstrate.

"Wow. Did they take that picture at Sears?" mocked a user on X (formerly Twitter).

"Such a beautiful picture of a beautiful family 😍😍😍❤️❤️❤️❤️," another user stated

A third commented, "There doesn’t seem to be anything related to Christmas in this photo. Looks like an office team-building picture. They’re all in jeans and oxford shirts?"

"Just love it! Such a sweet, casual family photo! 🥰" exclaimed a user.

"the only time they are ok with something Black and White," cheekily commented a fifth.

"What a gorgeous family! The Prince and Princess of Wales formed a lovely and solid family perfectly balanced between the public and private life. Perfection ❤️" was the opinion of another.
