Tanasia Bush: Boyfriend fatally shoots Texas woman and ends his life after she stabs him during fight

HARRIS COUNTY, TEXAS: A woman, whom authorities said was shot by her boyfriend after she stabbed him during a fight that escalated on Saturday, February 17, has died from her injuries.

33-year-old Tanasia Bush was shot by her boyfriend after she stabbed him. Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez said the incident happened on Saturday in the 5500 block of Lakota Trail. The boyfriend also killed himself later. 

What did Tanasia Bush do? 

Sheriff ED Gonzalez said a man, Philip Hickman, and a woman, later revealed to be Bush, were arguing at the location and a fight broke out. Bush then stabbed her boyfriend. Following this, the man then shot her.

Both of them were transported to hospitals. Bush died from her injuries while the man was released from the hospital on Saturday.

Gonzalez updated about the incident on his X (previously known as Twitter) account. He wrote, "Update: the female complainant, Tanasia Bush (33), was initially transported to an area hospital in critical condition but later died due to her injuries. The male, Phillip Hickman, was treated and released for a wound to the arm."

Gonzalez noted that Hickman cooperated with the authorities and gave a statement to detectives about the incident, which was in line with the details provided by witnesses at the scene.

Hickman killed himself later

As per KPRC, Gonzalez said the plan was to refer the case to a grand jury upon the completion of the investigation. However, Hickman was said to be distraught and his family was searching for him.

Gonzalez said family members found him on Sunday, February 18 at a school parking lot in the 14700 block of Woodforest.

As family members approached, Gonzalez said Hickman shot himself. He was pronounced dead at the scene. "Our condolences go out to everyone impacted by these two deaths,” Gonzalez said.
