LONDON, UK: JK Rowling has called out a local news channel for calling a transgender murderer a ‘woman’ while reporting on air.

The celebrated author of the ‘Harry Potter' series took to X (formerly Twitter) and expressed her frustration.

“I'm so sick of this s**t. This is not a woman. These are #NotOurCrimes,” she wrote while sharing the clip from Sky News.

Who is Scarlet Blake?

Scarlet Blake was found guilty of murdering a man four months after she live-streamed a video in which she killed a cat, reported Variety.

During the hearing, the judge said Blake was somewhat inspired by the Netflix documentary 'Don’t F*** With Cats'.

The transgender has been convicted in the death of Jorge Martin Carreno, whom she hit and pushed into the River Cherwell in Oxford in July 2021.

As per BBC, Blake will serve a life sentence in a men’s prison. “The court previously heard how she arrived in the UK from China aged nine, coming out to her parents as transgender at 12,” the outlet reported.

“She said it ‘made my father really unhappy and my mother as well’ and ’caused a large emotional rift. Jurors were told how Blake, formerly known as Alice Wang, had an ‘extreme interest in death and… harm’ that ‘went beyond mere fantasy,'” the BBC said.

Previously, Rowling claimed people have "deeply misunderstood her position on transgender women."

“I do not walk around my house, thinking about my legacy,” the author said on 'The Witch Trials of JK Rowling' podcast.

“You know, what a pompous way to live your life walking around thinking, ‘What will my legacy be?’ Whatever, I’ll be dead. I care about now. I care about the living,” Rowling added.

Reactions to JK Rowling's take on news channel's reporting

After JK Rowling’s tweet, many social media user backed the author as one wrote, "Words matter. Especially ones as fundamental as "woman.""

"Preach! Media outlets MUST report accurately. Instead they mislead the public calling male murderers female. Talk about fake news! @LBC right NOW is calling Scarlet Blake a woman, ffs #NotOurCrimes," said the second.

"Here comes the lgbtq+ mafia to argue that JK not respecting this person’s preferred gender is worse than killing a cat and putting it in a blender. 🙄" another wrote.

One user said, "Thank you! The more we all say ‘Enough of this crap’ the better. Complain to news outlets, @SkyNews @BBCNews especially @PA who issued the court reports + to @IpsoNews and @EditorsUK … #NotOurCrimes #scarletBlake."
