WASHINGTON, DC: South Carolina Senator Tim Scott criticized President Joe Biden on Saturday, May 18, accusing him of "pandering" to Black voters during his two-day campaign swing through Atlanta and Detroit this weekend.

Scott also predicted that Black voters would support Republican Donald Trump in "historic" numbers come November.

Scott spoke with Fox News host Sean Hannity on Friday about the election and other topics.

What did Tim Scott say?

Hannity aired a montage of Fox News clips featuring Biden's statements, such as his remark in 2020, "if you have a problem figuring out whether you’re for me or Trump, then you ain’t Black," and his comment from 2007, discussing Barack Obama, "I mean, you got the first mainstream African-American who is articulate and bright and clean and a nice-looking guy. I mean, that’s storybook, man."

"But last time I checked, the only person restraining Black economic growth is Joe Biden and Bidenomics,” Scott said, adding, "So please don’t pander to people smart enough to smell what you’re cooking, and it’s a rat.”

Scott, a potential candidate to be Trump's vice presidential running mate, criticized Biden's economic record, asserting that inflation has led to significant hardship for low-income Americans

“That’s one of the reasons why you see so many black voters shifting to the GOP under Trump,” he said

According to a poll conducted this week in six battleground states by The New York Times, Siena College, and The Philadelphia Inquirer, 23% of Black voters would support Trump over Biden in a head-to-head race.

This is the highest percentage of African American support for a Republican presidential candidate since the time before the Civil Rights Movement.

On Sunday, May 19, the president is scheduled to deliver a commencement speech at historically black Morehouse College—an event that has faced strong opposition from some students and faculty members there.

Afterward, he will proceed to Detroit to deliver a speech before the local chapter of the NAACP.

“Historic shifts towards President Trump are already happening,” Scott said.

"Without question, the pandering tour is because, without the Black vote, there is no Democrat Party," he added.

Senator Tim Scott called 'desperate' following comments on Biden's gaffe

Social media users opined on Tim Scott's views with a user writing on Mediaite, "If he says those 'idiotic comments' in public on record, imagine the comments he makes in private when there is no recording."

Another user said, "He's desperate to both-sides every conversation." [sic] A user said, "Uncle Tim is admitting racism exists now? How convenient."

A user said, "you've been going around shucking and jiving for.." [sic]

Another user said, "Reality is Trump is in worse health than Biden no way the GOP lets a gay black be potus." [sic]
