The village manager confirmed that the victims were a mother, Majeda Kassem, 53; and her three daughters - Halema Kassem, 25; Hanan Kassem, 24; and Zahia Kassem, 25, Chicago Tribune reported.
Carr reported that four gunshot victims were found dead on the scene when police arrived after a man reported hearing gunshots inside the house on a 911 call.
He attested that a domestic dispute was the cause of the shooting. According to him, a weapon was found and a male suspect was taken into custody. The identity of the perpetrator was not revealed, but he was adentified as the husband of Majeda.
"We know that this was isolated to this home," he said. "The [person was] taken into custody at the home. The scene is secure. There is only one suspect at this time, and we are confident that there is no threat to the general public in the area."
Reason of Tinley Park shooting
The family residing in the home is a husband, wife, three daughters, and two sons, according to a neighbor whose daughter knew the family well.
"She's in shock," said neighbor Charlotte Vaitkus.
"She went to school with the oldest son, and she employed the twin sisters, and she always talked about how they were all very intelligent. And they had very high goals in life, like they were pharmacist and the doctor, and that she never knew that there were any problems at all at home."
What precipitated the shooting is unknown. "We are still investigating and interviewing the witnesses and we are not done yet. And the investigators have not finished," Carr stated, as reported by CBS Chicago.
Police and other law enforcement officials say they will provide additional information regarding this case's investigation at a press conference on Monday morning.
