NORTH COLLEGE HILL, OHIO: T'ontae Farley, a 26-year-old Ohio man grappling with schizophrenia, has been sentenced to more than a decade in prison for the involuntary manslaughter of his mother, Vanessa Quarles.

Farley's chilling act unfolded on December 19, 2021, when he brutally stabbed his mother to death at her Cincinnati apartment.

Farley's guilty plea, entered in December, led to his sentencing on Wednesday, January 3, with the judge imposing an 11-year prison term, accompanied by the potential for an additional 5 ½ years based on his future behavior.

What led to the tragic incident?

The tragic incident transpired despite Quarles' desperate 911 call moments before her demise, seeking help as she feared for her life. On the fateful day, Quarles locked herself in her bedroom, calling 911 to report her son's escalating threat.

"My son is sick. He has a knife," she pleaded with the dispatcher. The 911 operator, "Oh, he has mental illness? How old is he?" "Twenty-four. He’s trying to get in my door now. He has a knife," Quarles responds. A minute later, Quarles yells, "He just broke in my door!"

The 911 operator instructes Quarles, "Ma’am. Ma’am. Take a deep breath for me. I’m getting them dispatched out that way," Local 12 reported.

Unfortunately, before the police could intervene, Farley forced his way into the room, perpetrating the brutal stabbing. The call captured the unfolding horror as the attack occurred, leaving a shocked neighbor to recount the distressing scene.

The aftermath of the murder revealed an unsettling encounter as Farley interacted with law enforcement. After his arrest, he requested peculiar gestures, asking if he could put shorts on his deceased mother and even sought a hug from a police officer, confessing that he had just killed his mom.

Farley, who appeared in court accused of the heinous crime, faces the consequences of his actions. He is now held on a $1-million bond.
