MILWAUKEE, WISCONSIN: Donald Trump faced considerable backlash for his insensitive remarks about the tragic death of rally attendee Corey Comperatore, implying that he "had the best seats in the house."

The rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, occurred three months after a 20-year-old gunman attempted to assassinate Trump, leading to increased security measures at the event.

Donald Trump’s remarks on rally victim Corey Comperatore draw criticism

Donald Trump, 78, and his Republican allies frequently describe his survival as a "miracle" or an "act of God." Critics contend that such statements show disrespect for Corey Comperatore's memory.

During the rally, Trump made an inflammatory comment about Corey, saying, "Corey had the best seat in the house and he was telling his wife and family in the car, 'He's going to invite me up.'"

He added, "Little did anyone realize Corey would be on the stage three months later in an almost immortal position," which further fueled outrage.

Security at the event was visibly heightened, with attendees required to pass through metal detectors and sharpshooters positioned on nearby rooftops. A larger perimeter encircled the stage, emphasizing the seriousness of the occasion.

Donald Trump’s controversial remarks about Corey Comperatore's death resurface ahead of Butler rally

Before the rally, Donald Trump had already sparked controversy by making light of Corey Comperatore's death during a leaked speech on August 10 in Aspen, Colorado.

In this speech, he questioned whether Helen Comperatore would choose $1 million over her husband's life, recalling an interaction in which she expressed gratitude for a check he had given her.

"So they're going to get millions of dollars but the woman, the wife, this beautiful woman, I handed her the cheque," Trump elaborated. "We handed her the cheque and she said, 'This is so nice, and I appreciate it, but I'd much rather have my husband.' Now, I know some of the women in this room wouldn't say the same."

This comment drew laughter from some audience members, including Texas Governor Greg Abbott, as Trump continued, "I know at least four couples. There are four couples, Governor [Abbott], that I know, and you’re not one of them. At least four couples here would have been thrilled, actually."

Donald Trump’s remarks on Corey Comperatore spark outrage

Social media erupted in outrage after Donald Trump's insensitive remarks about rally victim Corey Comperatore, who was fatally shot during a prior event.

One user wrote, "'Corey had the best seat in the house and had an immortal position' BRO HE DIED WHAT?!"

Another user added, "Trump is such an odd duck. A sociopath in a suit and folks think he's okay to be back in the oval office. Sad." [sic]

One user added, "He’s despicable and deplorable."

Another user commented, "He's insane."

One person replied, "I was initially shocked and upset at hearing this, then I thought about how Corey's family continue to support Trump. What can I say if you're OK someone treats a loved one, one who has passed, that way? I can't possibly care about Corey and his memory more than you do, so "

Another added, "And the man's wife was probably applauding and cheering him the entire time."
