LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Bill Maher recently addressed the wave of conservative support for his comments on President Joe Biden and the border, criticizing them for embracing only a part of his narrative.

During a discussion on HBO's 'Real Time With Bill Maher', the host expressed frustration with the perceived theatricality surrounding border issues, including Biden's approach.

Maher unpacks Immigration theatrics

Maher specifically targeted Biden's call for a new law to address border challenges, asserting that existing laws were sufficient. He stated, "I was going to say part two of the acting is, it’s Joe Biden was saying, you know what? If you just give me a new law. A new law? Why does — the president can fix this. He already has the existing laws. This is all so silly. 'I need a piece of paper from Congress to deal with the border!' No, you already have that."

The clip of this segment went viral on social media, garnering conservative approval. However, Maher emphasized that this snippet was just 'part two' of his commentary, where earlier in the show, he had criticized Republicans for their own performative actions on immigration.

He said, "Immigration is real but the reaction to it is not real. It’s all a bunch of acting. They should be getting an award this award season here because, you know, really. They, the Republicans act like they want to solve this, but the Democrats called their bluff."

Bill Maher exposes political gamesmanship

According to mediaite, the host accused both parties of engaging in political theater, suggesting that Republicans feigned interest in solving the issue, only to be called out by Democrats. Maher highlighted a current bill that some conservative senators support but suggested that they are reluctant to resolve the matter, preferring to keep it as a contentious political topic.

In a post on social media, Maher called out conservatives for cherry-picking his comments, pointing to a broader critique he made about media narratives the previous week. He argued that conservative media, which praised his criticism of media bias, is now guilty of perpetuating a similar narrative distortion concerning his remarks on the border.

Maher shared the clip of that comment, stating, "They print the narrative. They don’t print truth."

This incident underscores Maher's frustration with what he perceives as a lack of genuine discourse and a tendency to prioritize political posturing over practical solutions. The host contends that both sides contribute to the problem by prioritizing optics over actual problem-solving, creating a cycle of performative politics.

Social media echoes

Social media users are offering diverse reactions to Bill Maher's recent border commentary.

One user wrote, "The real question is why don’t they want to show you as someone who can criticize both parties."

Another added, "Republicans don't want it as a campaign issue, it is already a campaign issue. Democrats are trying to twist the issue and try to make the American people think the Democrats will fix it with a bogus Bill."

One commented, "Sounds like somebody got reprimanded."

One replied, "Don’t agree they don’t want it solved. I think they want a bill that actually solves it. Not something Biden can only claim solves it when it doesn’t."

One user wrote, "Why do they have to quote the entire interview? When did that become a rule .You said Biden is pretending he needs new laws ..that isn’t media manipulation."
