NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: CNN commentator Van Jones, known for his liberal stance, reportedly expressed disappointment over Joe Biden's weak and lethargic performance in his debate with Donald Trump, calling it "painful" to watch.

Within the first 12 minutes of the debate, Biden froze, plunging Democrats into a state of panic about their candidate, making it a terrible start for the 81-year-old president, who needs to convince voters he is physically and mentally fit for a second term.

After a debate performance that has left fellow Democrats in a state of panic, Jones seems to have run out of patience with the president.

According to Jones, Biden lost the debate within the "first three minutes," appearing weak and raspy on camera.

Jones called the debate "the old man vs the con man" and tried to, as he put it, speak to his heart about a "good man, who loves his country, he's doing the best he can."

"He had a test tonight to restore the confidence of the country, of the base and he failed," he added.

Jones mentioned that many Democrats now believe Biden should "consider taking a different course" and that the party needs to "figure out a different way forward" before the convention in August.

"There is time for this party to figure out a different way forward if he will allow us to do that, but that was not what we needed from Joe Biden and is personally painful for a lot of people," he said.

"It's not just panic, it's the pain of what we saw tonight."

Jones, who previously served as a Special Advisor to Barack Obama, has often voiced concerns about Biden.

In January, Jones suggested that Biden should keep a low profile if he wants to secure victory in the upcoming election, as he "doesn't inspire confidence."

Last year, the left-wing commentator likened re-electing Biden to giving "grandpa a high-stress job for six more years."

Viewers react as Van Jones assessed Joe Biden's stumble

Numerous viewers shared their thoughts as Jones pinpointed the moment Biden lost ground to Trump in the debate.

One viewer expressed, "Van Jones has repeatedly covered for Biden, and the media's deception is becoming impossible to ignore. This isn't new; they've been misleading America for years. In contrast, Trump has been nothing short of magnificent. It's time to acknowledge the truth."

Another viewer shared, "In January, Jones said Biden should stay out of the limelight if he hopes to win the upcoming election because he 'doesn't inspire confidence'."Nothing new there, isn't that what they did with Biden in 2020, kept him hidden in his basement?"

One viewer pointed out, "Mr Van Jones should consider that himself and his colleagues knew the physical and mental state of Biden but are only now coming clean after the car crash seen by everyone today."

A follower observed, "Why is everyone so upset and disappointed? It’s been obvious for a long time that he was well past his prime. His wife and handlers should be ashamed. Biden should have been enjoying the time he has left instead of being wheeled out like some attraction."

One comment stated, "How can this be true? A couple of weeks ago all his top people were saying Joe was the smartest person in the room."

Another comment read, ""Old Man Vs Con Man" Says the guy who said the Russia Collusion was a "Nothing burger" and yet his network kept maintaining the lie. If there's anyone who knows what a con man is, Jones should be on the top of the lists."

"Van Jones has known all along about Joe Biden’s condition and purposely misled people. Can’t hide it anymore!" explained an individual.
