WASHINGTON, DC: Vice President Kamala Harris took to X (formerly Twitter) to announce the launch of a new national initiative, 'Out for Biden-Harris', as part of her and President Joe Biden's reelection campaign on Wednesday, April 10.

The program is aimed at mobilizing members of the LGBTQ+ community for the upcoming 2024 presidential election and drumming up support for the Democratic presidential nominee, especially in the battleground states.

What does the 'Out for Biden-Harris' initiative incorporate?

The launch of 'Out for Biden-Harris' includes a series of virtual organizing and training events focused on reaching new volunteers from the LGBTQ+ community, as per The Hill. It also seeks to reengage volunteers who helped elect Biden in 2020.

Julie Chavez Rodriguez, the campaign manager, noted, "LGBTQ+ voters are a force to be reckoned with. They were critical to our victory in 2020 and they will be critical to winning again this November."

She added, "LGBTQ+ Americans couldn’t have more at stake this election: Donald Trump and his extremist allies are running to gut LGBTQ+ rights and erase history as their top priorities. LGBTQ+ Americans deserve leaders who will fight for every American’s freedom and dignity."

Additionally, 'Out for Biden-Harris' events are set to be held in key swing-state cities, such as Phoenix, Arizona; Ferndale, Michigan; Milwaukee; Philadelphia; Pittsburgh; Harrisburg, Pennsylvania; and Las Vegas.

Vice President Kamala Harris promises to keep fighting for equality

Taking to the social media platform, Harris announced the launch of the initiative with a video clip, where she said, "We are so excited to launch 'Out for Biden-Harris'. As the great Harvey Milk once said, 'Rights are won only by those who make their voices heard'.And because you made your voices heard, marriages are more secure, and Joe Biden is our President."

The vice president added, "A President who elevated LGBTQ+ leaders to every level of our administration, who fights for the safety and freedom and dignity of all people every single day ... We will do what we have always done in this movement, in this community, which is collectively we will continue to build unity."

"We will continue to build coalition. We will always be fueled by knowing we have so much more in common than what separates us. We will be fuelled by knowing we are all in this together," assured Harris.

"We’re excited to launch Out for Biden-Harris. LGBTQ+ rights are human rights, and we’re going to keep fighting for equality and justice for all people. Text OUT to 30330 to join us," read the caption of Harris' X (formerly Twitter) post.
