FLORIDA, UNITED STATES: Florida is famous for its beautiful beaches, exciting theme parks, and diverse wildlife. However, it’s also a state where alligators can catch you off guard—such as finding one in a flooded home after Hurricane Helene!

After Hurricane Helene caused widespread damage, one family returned home to find their house not only waterlogged but also harboring an unwelcome scaly visitor. Watch the video of this surprising encounter here.

Florida couple finds 'new pet' Alligator relaxing in their waterlogged home

As recent hurricanes swept through Florida, one couple braced for a return to a waterlogged home but never expected a surprise guest. In a viral clip, a man opens the door to find water rushing out and an alligator lounging casually by the entrance.

The homeowners were reportedly shocked by their unexpected scaly visitor! The alligator—or crocodile, as the video suggests—seemed completely at ease, looking the other way and unaware of its company, ensuring no immediate danger for the residents.

After a startled "holy s**t" scream, the couple took it in stride, keeping their sense of humor. They even captioned the moment, "Came home to a flood … and a new pet crocodile!"

While Florida has more alligators than crocodiles, the latter's population is on the rise. Without a closer look in the 10-second video, it's challenging to identify this particular reptile. The fate of the toothy visitor remains unknown, but with alligators roaming Florida, many others are likely facing similar scaly surprises as Hurricanes Helene and Milton affect the state.

According to Whiskeyriff, Hurricane Milton is approaching the Gulf Coast, expected to strike near Tampa Bay with winds exceeding 100 mph, rising waters, and potential tornadoes in its path. Fortunately, it has been downgraded to a Category 3 storm, but that offers little comfort to Floridians still recovering from the previous disaster.
