The sister of the man accused of murdering tech entrepreneur Bob Lee was arrested this week in San Francisco on suspicion of driving under the influence and hit-and-run. Khazar Elyassnia, 38, was identified by the San Francisco Police Department (SFPD) as the driver involved in a vehicle collision on the morning of Monday, November 27.

Officers arrested Elyassnia, charging her with DUI, two counts of hit-and-run, failure to drive in her lane, and failure to provide insurance.

She was booked into the San Francisco County Jail, though it is unclear if she has been released on bail. Elyassnia has regularly attended court hearings in support of her brother, Nima Momeni, who stands accused of Lee's murder.

Cash App founder Bob Lee's death

On the morning of April 4, 2023, Cash App founder Bob Lee, 43, was found stabbed in the heart on a San Francisco street, dying later at the hospital. Surveillance footage showed Lee entering the luxury Millennium Tower condo building with Momeni, 38, shortly after 2 am. The two men then left together at 2.17 am in Momeni's car.

Just over 30 minutes later, Lee was discovered alone and bleeding out on Main Street. SFPD officers arriving on scene attempted life-saving measures, but Lee died of a single stab wound from a four-inch kitchen knife.

Momeni was arrested on April 13 and has pled not guilty to Lee's murder, facing 26 years to life in prison if convicted. According to prosecutors, Momeni killed Lee due to a dispute over the victim's alleged sexual relationship with Elyassnia, who is married to prominent plastic surgeon, Dr Dino Elyassnia.

Both Elyassnia and her husband could potentially testify when Momeni stands trial. Other possible witnesses include Jeremy Boivin, who is claimed to have sold drugs to Elyassnia the day before the killing, as well as a homeless man found sleeping just 40 feet from where Lee collapsed.

Status of Bob Lee murder case investigation

The SFPD continues gathering evidence in its investigation into Lee's death after arresting Momeni in April. At a July hearing, the prosecution introduced photos of the suspected murder weapon - a Joseph Joseph-brand kitchen knife matching a set owned by Elyassnia.

Forensic testing showed Momeni's DNA on the knife handle and Lee's blood on the blade itself. SFPD officer Cedric Hood also testified about attempting to save Lee's life after discovering his bleeding body.

Crime scene analysts described finding drops of blood tracing Lee's path as he stumbled through the streets seeking aid after being stabbed. Security footage also captured his desperate attempts to bang on doors and use a phone booth to call for help.

With the investigation still active, additional evidence may emerge, especially concerning the relationships between Lee, Elyassnia and her accused brother. For now, Momeni remains in custody pending trial, while Elyassnia faces DUI and hit-and-run charges from her recent arrest.
