NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: Yvette Nicole Brown announced her engagement to actor Anthony Davis during her appearance as a guest on the December 12 episode of 'The View.'

"I have some news, and I heard that The View is the place to announce things like this," said the 'Community' star, before excitedly stating, "I'm engaged!"

The audience cheered on as Brown held up her hand to show off the engagement ring.

"And he's here! He's here! That's Tony," she continued while pointing Davis out, who looked dapper in a grey blazer seated among the audience.

"You are one lucky man," co-host Sunny Hostin told Davis.

How did Yvette Nicole Brown and Anthony Davis meet?

Brown and Davis had been longtime friends, revealed the actress.

"We've known each other since we were in our 20s. We were in an acting class together at church years ago. He's an amazing actor, by the way. Anthony Davis, everybody. He was married at the time, and we were platonic friends, and then we lost touch for a few years," she stated.

After the death of Brown's mother in 2021, Davis reached out to her. "Then he found me... after he divorced," added Brown.

"I feel like my mom and his mom kind of did it," shared the Emmy-nominated actress. "He’s just wonderful … do you want to say something?" she asks Davis.

"She's just the most beautiful person in the world," came the actor's heart-warming reply.

"He's a nice man, you guys. He's a good, kind, loving man," says Brown, to which the co-hosts responded, "We would expect nothing less."

How did Anthony Davis propose to Yvette Nicole Brown?

The proposal took place when Davis was visiting her hometown in Ohio. Warrensville Heights High School, the alma mater of the actress, had recently named its auditorium after her.

"We were celebrating that, and then we were at a party (where) he (Davis) gave me a scratcher. On the scratcher, it said 'Will you marry me?'" recalled Brown.

"I thought I was going to win some money and I won a man!" she joked.

"That is very Bronx," quipped co-host Whoopi Goldberg, "We like a scratch card." It was previously mentioned in the show that the actor hails from the region.
