LONDON,UK: British broadcaster Piers Morgan has launched a sharp attack directly at former President Barack Obama, calling his recent remarks about “mean and angry” politics “preposterously disingenuous.”

The backlash came after Obama, speaking on a podcast with Brian Tyler Cohen on Saturday, February 14, contrasted what he described as Democrats’ unifying spirit with what he characterized as the Republican party's “mean, angry, exclusive, us/them, divisive politics.”

Piers Morgan tears into Left and Obama

Answering a question by Brian Tyler Cohen, Obama said, “The other side does the mean, angry, exclusive, us/them, divisive politics. That’s their home court. Our court is coming together.”

Morgan reacted forcefully on X, writing: “Preposterously disingenuous nonsense by Obama. The woke left has been the single meanest, angriest, exclusive, us/them divisive movement in history.”

With that post, Morgan not only rejected Obama’s framing but directly accused both the former president and the broader woke left movement of embodying the very traits Obama attributed to his political opponents.

Obama’s original comments were part of a reflection on civic engagement and protest movements. He cited an example from Minnesota, describing community members mobilizing around ICE-related protests and celebrating afterward with music in freezing temperatures.

He framed it as an “embodiment of the values that make us care about other people.”

He also referenced a halftime show by Bad Bunny as something that “resonated” and symbolized cultural unity.

But Morgan’s response reframed the conversation entirely. By labeling Obama’s comments as “disingenuous nonsense,” he suggested the former president was ignoring what he sees as years of aggressive rhetoric, cancellation culture, and ideological intolerance from the left.

The exchange has since fueled debate online, with supporters of Morgan arguing that Obama’s characterization of political division is one-sided, while Obama’s defenders say his remarks were about tone and strategy alone.

Obama's 'aliens are real' remark goes viral

The same podcast episode also drew attention for a lighter but headline-grabbing moment when Obama addressed the topic of extraterrestrials during a rapid-fire segment.

When asked directly whether aliens are real, Obama replied, “They’re real, but I haven’t seen them, and they’re not being kept in...” before Cohen interjected, “Area 51?”

Obama clarified there was no secret underground facility “unless there’s this enormous conspiracy, and they hid it from the president of the United States.”
