Former President Donald Trump was always explicit about his dislike for pop star Taylor Swift's political stance. Though her take on politics had caused backlash from fans and politicians, no one was as affected as the 45th president. Over the years, Trump, who had a soft spot for Swift, has taken a u-turn in his likeness towards Swift. Here are five such instances where the ex-president, who is seeking his second White House term in November, commented on the pop singer.

1. June 2024: Trump calls Taylor Swift 'beautiful' but 'liberal'

In an upcoming book about Trump and the history of his reality show 'The Apprentice', the former president admitted Swift's beauty but questioned her "liberal" stance. "I think she's beautiful—very beautiful! I find her very beautiful," the real estate mogul mentioned the pop star to author Ramin Setoodeh in 'Apprentice in Wonderland: How Donald Trump and Mark Burnett Took America Through the Looking Glass'. Trump added,  "I think she's liberal. She probably doesn't like Trump. I hear she's very talented. I think she's very beautiful, actually—unusually beautiful!"

2. February 2024: Trump claims Taylor Swift endorsing Joe Biden would be 'disloyal'

Trump took a swipe at the 'Blank Space' singer ahead of the Super Bowl in February, where many speculated that Swift would announce her endorsement of President Joe Biden's re-election bid to a massive audience. Criticizing the possibility, the former president cited the 2018 Music Modernization Act he signed that benefitted Swift and other musical artists. "Joe Biden didn't do anything for Taylor and never will. There's no way she could endorse Crooked Joe Biden, the worst and most corrupt President in the History of our Country, and be disloyal to the man who made her so much money," Trump wrote on his Truth Social platform. Swift had endorsed Biden's 2020 White House race.

3. October 2018: Trump admits he likes Taylor Swift 'less now'

The President did not receive Swift's public display of her political standpoint well after she opposed Trump's endorsed Tennessee Senate candidate Marsha Blackburn in 2018. The 'Shake It Off' singer wrote on Instagram that she could not vote for someone who won't be "willing to fight for dignity for ALL Americans, no matter their skin color, gender or who they love." Trump mockingly dismissed Swift's political statement and opposition to Blackburn at a press conference later. He said, "Sure, Taylor Swift has nothing or doesn't know anything about [Blackburn]. And let's say that I like Taylor's music about 25 percent less now, OK?"

4. October 2012: Trump calls Taylor Swift's breakup with Conor Kennedy as 'great news'

Trump took his time to weigh in on Swift's break up with the now-presidential hopeful Robert F Kennedy Jr's son Conor Kennedy. He congratulated the singer after their break up in October 2012. In an X (formerly Twitter) post, Trump called the breakup “great news for Taylor!”

5. August 2012: Trump thanks Taylor Swift for 'beautiful picture'

Amidst Swift's success with the country-pop album 'Red', Trump tagged the pop icon on X (formerly Twitter), thanking her for a picture. He tweeted, "@taylorswift13 Thanks for the beautiful picture— you are fantastic!" However, no photo of Trump and Swift standing together was ever found, even if the former was implying the existence of fan memorabilia. It could have been removed from the internet by Swift's publicist, Tree Paine.
