Ali Wong plays matchmaker for Hoda Kotb as she tries to set her up with 'obsessed' Eric Andre
NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: Ali Wong is playing Cupid, and she has her eyes set on Hoda Kotb—along with the perfect match!
During a lively appearance on 'Today' with Hoda and Jenna Hager, Wong, 42, couldn't resist revealing her friend, comedian Eric Andre, might be just the man for the 'Today' show host.
Ali Wong teases Hoda Kotb about Eric Andre's obsession
"Eric Andre is like obsessed with you," Ali Wong said, smiling coyly as she gauged Hoda Kotb’s reaction. The audience and Kotb herself were caught off guard.
Wong then asked if Kotb was familiar with Andre's work, pulling up photos of the quirky comedian.
"Look, he's a colorful dresser. He's the host of his own show," she said, showing off Andre’s signature bold style, according to People.

But things took a hilarious turn when Wong flashed a Halloween photo of Andre dressed up as Kotb.
Complete with a light brown wig and purple dress, the image was a humorous homage to the journalist.
"Look at [this. It's a] homage to you. Is that the first time you’ve seen that?" Wong teased, while Kotb and her co-host Jenna Bush Hager were visibly surprised.
Bush Hager, equally amused, couldn't help but ask why Andre would dress as Kotb. Wong explained, "Because he loves Hoda."
She shared that during a conversation about dating, she had asked Andre about his type. His response? "Hoda Kotb."
Wong continued, "No, I think he just said ‘Hoda’ because you’re like, you know, in that mono… status — what is it, mononym status?" referencing Kotb’s single-name celebrity status, much like Madonna or Cher.
Hoda Kotb reacts to Eric Andre's crush on her
Hoda Kotb, taking it all in stride, admitted she had no idea Eric Andre had such a crush.
Wong quickly reassured her, saying, "You have a career, you’re secure, you’re beautiful."
Kotb's co-host Bush Hager seemed on board with the idea of this unexpected pair, playfully suggesting, "Let's talk after this!" as if to plot a matchmaking scheme with Wong.
This potential pairing comes after Kotb’s high-profile breakup with financier Joel Schiffman in 2022.
The two had been engaged since 2019 and share daughters Hope, 4, and Haley, 7.
While Kotb is back in the dating pool, she’s taking a new approach, focusing on being her authentic self.
“You know what? I just decide before every date, I'm gonna be exactly who I am,” she told People in a March interview.
“I'm not gonna pretend. I'm gonna eat what I would normally and not get a salad. That's not for me. So I want to be myself, so he knows this is me.”
As for advice for anyone else navigating the dating scene, Kotb shared a down-to-earth perspective: “If you sit in your house and order Domino's Pizza, you're not meeting anybody. Okay?” She encourages people to just get out there, no matter the outcome.
“Go out, learn a little, have some fun and be open. Like just do it. You get one ride around the sun. You might as well go out and eat with someone. They're paying, who cares? Like, go do it.”
