Speaking during a Q&A with SAG-AFTRA Foundation, Seyfried shared that the character was “just not for me,” and she turned it down “for my family,” as reported by Deadline.
“I think turning down 'Guardians of the Galaxy' was just so obvious to me at the time. I’m like, ‘This is not going to be a hit. The tree and the raccoon are talking to each other. And also they’re all in space,’” she explained.

The Oscar nominee further mentioned that she felt the film might "ruin my career if this is bad. And there’s a high chance that this could be bad.”

“I just can’t sit still anyway. I really don’t like stunts, and I don’t like heights, and I don’t like pretending the entire world. I need something to hold on to,” the 40-year-old added.

Amanda Seyfried and Thomas Sadoski say they've 'got each other forever' while announcing separation
This came a month after Seyfried and Thomas Sadoski announced their separation after nine years of marriage.
Issuing a joint statement, they said, as per PEOPLE, “We have been separated for a while, and it’s proven to be the right move for us and our family unit. We’ve got each other forever—and it’s GOOD.”
Seyfried and Sadoski met for the first time in 2015 while starring together in the off-Broadway play ‘The Way We Get By’. They began dating in 2016 while filming ‘The Last Word’ and eloped in 2017.

“We eloped. We just took off into the country with an officiant and, just the two of us, and we did our thing. It was beautiful. It was everything that it should be. It was just the two of us talking to each other,” Sadoski had said at the time.
Eventually, they became parents to daughter Nina and son Thomas Jr.
