AOC retracts her claim that Dems wanted to remove whole Biden-Harris ticket after VP gets party's support
NEW YORK: Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez expressed her relief after her earlier prediction that party leaders would try to remove both Joe Biden and Kamala Harris from the Democratic ticket proved to be incorrect.
The New York Democrat, who was one of the last to insist Biden should remain in the running for 2024, had warned that Democrats were also considering pushing out Harris. "I think that for some of the skeptics and folks that I think there were skeptics that were surprised at that," said Ocasio-Cortez. "And I was happy to see the party rally behind her. I do think that I voiced those concerns because of conversations that I had seen and was privy to, in the lead up to that moment, and I'm glad to see that it was countered," she added.
Kamala Harris raises $81M within 24 hours of Biden's endorsement
Since Joe Biden dropped out of the race on July 21, Democrats quickly rallied behind Kamala Harris, who now has just over 100 days to prove herself to the electorate before November 5. However, Harris seems to be off to a strong start, raising $81 million within 24 hours of Biden's endorsement.
"This actually shows that there was a major enthusiasm gap between Democrats and Republicans," said Rep Jared Moskowitz (D-Fla) Biden's ally, Rep Debbie Dingell (D-Mich) said that Harris would attract young and Black voters, demographics where Biden had been losing support. "We have to get young people excited. She's clearly drawing in the African American community," reported Daily Mail.
AOC's support for Joe Biden remained till the end
Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez did not hold back her frustration in a late-night Instagram live session, calling it "horse s***" that Democrats were anonymously doubting Biden's electability to journalists. "If that's your opinion, and if that's what you think is best for the country, put your name on it, okay?" she claimed. "That's a bunch of horse s***."

Ocasio-Cortez criticized the lack of clear leadership from Democratic officials who wanted Biden out but had no solid alternative plan. She also warned that many in the anti-Biden faction would likely target Harris as well. "I'm just going to say it. If you think that there is consensus among the people who want Joe Biden to leave that they will support Kamala, Vice President Harris, you would be mistaken," she asserted. "I'm in these rooms. I see what they say in conversations. They are interested in removing the whole ticket," she added.
AOC slams donors for pushing Joe Biden's removal without backing Kamala Harris
The NY rep highlighted that many within the donor class and party elites were pushing for Joe Biden's removal without necessarily backing Kamala Harris. "To a certain extent, I don't care what name is on there. We are not losing. I don't know about you, but my community does not have the option to lose," Ocasio-Cortez said. "My people are the first ones deported. They're the first ones put in Rikers, they're the first ones whose families are killed by war."
Despite her support for Biden, Ocasio-Cortez admitted, "I'm not here to tell you that if Joe Biden is the nominee, he's definitely going to win because I don't think if anybody is the nominee, we're definitely going to win. There's no safe option." The Minnesota Democrat and progressive "Squad" member continued to express frustration over anonymous leaks and the perceived lack of leadership, writing on X, "It's a lack of leadership and it's making all Democrats look bad. Whatever this mess leads to will not undo the damage that has already been inflicted. May God help us all," he said.
A defiant Biden has insisted publicly that he will be the Democratic nominee, with only God or a "medical condition" compelling him to bow out. Supported by family members, including First Lady Jill Biden and son Hunter, Biden has remained firm in his decision to stay in the race. Despite efforts to control the damage, Biden appeared confused and irritable during a Monday evening interview with NBC's Lester Holt. The official line remains that top Democrats did not pressure the president to quit.
Internet skeptical after Kamala Harris's nomination
As Kamala Harris steps into the spotlight following President Joe Biden's exit from the 2024 race, internet users express a range of skeptical opinions about the Democratic Party's support for her.
A social media user commented, "Why is anyone surprised at the support the Democrats are showing Kamala. She’s now their nominee so it’s her or Trump. The party didn’t want her in 2016 and she was a terrible VP. It’s now all about the Democratic Party and winning regardless of her qualifications."
A second said, "Her own party has concerns over her abilities but they have nobody else. They don't trust her at all but have to save face. Thing is though, they'll expect the public just forget that. They don't like or rate her and neither does the public but sashhhh don't talk about it."
A third claimed, "lol OF COURSE. Because it was all set up prepared and coordinated weeks in advance. There is absolutely no way that that many endorsements and that much money could be prepared so quickly. It’s IMPOSSIBLE. They obviously threatened Biden and gave him no choice but to bow out and prepare the way for Kamala. So do not believe anyone who says it was not a Coup. It absolutely WAS."
"Sure you are. You're all too eager to cheer for the next brain dead puppet for the shadowy elites and acronym groups that actually run the country and it's endless overseas wars. As long as the money keeps coming you all would rally behind a head of rotten lettuce," read a comment.
"It is shocking to see how Dems and the blindly liberal press have jumped on the Harris bandwagon. I guess that 'winning' or 'beating Trump' is more important than finding a worthy candidate. And Harris herself hasn't missed a beat since Joe's announcement. She's already hot on the campaign trail with her fake smile and 'me me me' personality. The US needs to take a step back and have a change of pace for 4 years and take the time to decide whether they want the country changed forever beyond recognition," penned an individual.
"The media should be asking Kamala why she participated in the cover-up of Joe's condition. It's reported that she had lunch with him weekly. Why didn't she blow the whistle on Joe's condition? The media will predictably praise her and prop her up finding no fault with her or Bidens policies," stated an individual.
