WASHINGTON, DC: Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (AOC) fired back at President Donald Trump over his recent comments on Puerto Rican singer Bad Bunny’s Super Bowl performance.

When asked about Trump’s statement that he did not understand anything Bad Bunny said during his performance because the singer spoke in Spanish, AOC smiled and shot back, saying, "I barely know what he's saying half the time."

Earlier, Trump criticized Bad Bunny’s halftime performance on his Truth Social account, calling the show “absolutely terrible” and saying it was “a slap in the face to our country.”

AOC responds to Trump’s criticism of Bad Bunny with her signature wit

A video that is going viral across social media shows AOC walking down a hall when she is approached by a reporter. Nicholas Ballasy asked, "I wanted to ask you about the Bad Bunny halftime. You have time?"

He continued, "Trump is out there saying he could not understand anything Bad Bunny was saying. He called the dancing quote 'disgusting.' What’s your response to that?" AOC smiled and responded, "I barely know what Trump's saying half the time, so I, I feel him." She then laughed lightly and walked away.

Trump slams Bad Bunny’s performance

Trump criticized Bad Bunny’s Super Bowl LX halftime show, calling it "absolutely terrible, one of the worst, EVER," in a post on social media on Sunday, February 8. The president did not hold back in his anger, targeting both the performance and its impact on viewers.

Trump called the show a "'slap in the face' to our country," saying there is "nothing inspirational about this mess of a Halftime Show." He added, "It makes no sense, is an affront to the Greatness of America, and doesn’t represent our standards of Success, Creativity, or Excellence."

"Nobody understands a word this guy is saying, and the dancing is disgusting, especially for young children that are watching from throughout the USA, and all over the World." He concluded by stressing that performances like this, in his view, fall short of the values and standards he believes should define major national events.

What did Bad Bunny say during the halftime show?

During his Super Bowl performance, Bad Bunny took a moment to speak directly to viewers with a heartfelt message, "Mi nombre es Benito Antonio Martínez Ocasio… y si hoy estoy aquí es porque nunca deje de creer en mí. Tu también deberías creer en ti. Vales mas de lo que piensas."

In English, as per translation that means, "My name is Benito Antonio Martínez Ocasio, and I am here because I never, never stopped believing in myself. You should, too; you should believe in yourself. You're worth more than you think. You are big."

The Puerto Rican star extended the same encouragement to a young fan during the show, handing him his Grammy and saying in Spanish, "Always believe in yourself." It was a touching moment that highlighted the singer’s message of self-belief and inspiration.
