LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Ariana Grande is planning to step away from the spotlight after completing her 'Eternal Sunshine' Tour. According to her representative, the decision comes after months of relentless public scrutiny over her appearance, particularly comments about her health and physical look.

The planned break also means Grande will no longer star alongside her 'Wicked' co-star Jonathan Bailey in the upcoming West End revival of 'Sunday in the Park With George'. The renewed attention surrounding her appearance intensified in the days following the release of her new album, 'Petal'.

Ariana Grande plans break after 'Eternal Sunshine' tour amid public scrutiny

As per PEOPLE, Grande's representative said, "Ariana will be taking a step back from visibility after she completes the Eternal Sunshine Tour.”

“She looks forward to finishing the tour and ending it on a high note, both healthily and happily, and then taking a much-deserved break from public-facing work and appearances, which has led to endless, ongoing public scrutiny,” the rep continued.

“This tour has been a beautiful experience for her. She loves her fans and has loved every minute of this tour so much.”

According to PEOPLE, an insider also said, “She performs a very physical show, and there is a lot of athleticism involved. She performs healthily and successfully at a very high level night after night.”

Why Ariana Grande faced renewed scrutiny over her appearance

The renewed attention surrounding Grande's health came into focus following the release of her eighth studio album, 'Petal', and its title track music video. While many fans expressed concern about her appearance and health, others defended Grande and criticized the constant focus on her body.

In her song 'Yes, And?' from her 2024 album 'Eternal Sunshine', Grande sings at one point, “My face is sitting, I don’t need no disguise / Don’t comment on my body, do not reply / Your business is yours, and mine is mine.”

Another insider shared about her album, “This album is a fight song, an anthem about the love-hate relationship with the public and their toxicity.”

“This album is not about any romantic partner or breakup in that way,” the source added.
