WASHINGTON, DC: Ben Carson recently voiced his concerns to Tucker Carlson about how the media is shaping the public perception of Vice President Kamala Harris.

According to Carson, there is a deliberate effort to portray Harris as "Martin Luther King in a different body," and he expressed skepticism about whether this narrative will sway Black voters.

Tucker Carson claims Black voter support for Trump on the rise

Ben Carson, the former Secretary of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), pointed to Donald Trump’s increasing support among Black voters as evidence of changing dynamics in political allegiance.

CNN’s aggregate polling from May indicated that Trump had garnered approximately 22 per cent support from Black voters, a notable increase from his 2020 performance. Despite this, President Joe Biden maintained a commanding lead of over 40 points at that time.

Carson questioned the depth of Harris’s appeal to Black voters, stating, “I know the media is going to do everything to make her seem like Martin Luther King in a different body. But I think people maybe are not going to be as easy to manipulate as that.” He cast doubt on how “great” Harris’s support among Black voters truly is, given that she is the presumptive nominee of a party that still enjoys significant backing from this demographic.

According to a CNN/SSRS poll, in a hypothetical matchup between Trump and Harris, Trump received 15 per cent support among Black voters while Harris secured 78 per cent.

Carson, who labeled Harris a “Marxist,” remarked on her potential success in the upcoming election. He claimed that the media is attempting to elevate Harris to a “godlike figure” and argued that this represents a significant test of media influence.

“Absolutely she can win. This is going to be a great test of the power of the media to take someone who formerly was universally disliked and transform them into a godlike figure, and they will use everything that they have to try to do that,” Carson said. He expressed his belief that “the American people are smarter than anybody gives them credit for,” suggesting that the public might be more discerning than the media assumes.
