NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: President Joe Biden reportedly offered to share highly classified information with Israel which would help the Israel Defense Forces to pinpoint the exact location of Hamas leaders, the Washington Post reported on Saturday, May 11.

The information offered by the United States includes locations of Hamas' secret tunnels, as the incumbent seeks to prevent the IDF from launching an all-out invasion on the city of Rafah in Gaza, where more than a million refugees have taken shelter, which could result in a humanitarian catastrophe.

US proposal to assist refugees

According to the Post, the US offered to assist in the construction of thousands of shelters to create tent cities and help with the setting up of delivery systems for vital supplies like food, water, and medicine for the refugees in Rafah.

Federal officials, including experts from agencies such as the US Agency for International Development (USAID), have engaged in thorough discussions with Israeli counterparts regarding the execution of a comprehensive humanitarian strategy.

Although some have proposed that establishing the required quantity of shelters and ensuring sufficient water supply to designated regions could span several months, Israel disputes these estimates.

With Israel set on invading Rafah using "extreme force" to complete its mission of wiping out Hamas, the current goal of the Biden administration is to essentially prevent unnecessary destruction and minimize harm to civilians, shared the Daily Mail.

President Joe Biden's warning to Israel

During an interview on CNN on May 8, President Biden stated, "I made it clear that if they (IDF) go into Rafah – they haven’t gone in Rafah yet – if they go into Rafah, I’m not supplying the weapons that have been used historically to deal with Rafah, to deal with the cities – that deal with that problem."

"We’re going to continue to make sure Israel is secure in terms of Iron Dome and their ability to respond to attacks that came out of the Middle East recently," he clarified, before adding, "But it’s, it’s just wrong. We’re not going to – we’re not going to supply the weapons and artillery shells."

While Israel has reportedly launched strikes on Rafah from May 6, they are yet to launch a full-scale ground invasion and cross into the "population centers."

Internet reacts to Biden Administration's decision to share intel

Netizens called out the Biden administration for withholding information on the Hamas leaders as Israel continued its assault on Gaza after the October 7, 2023 attack.

"He should have provided that info a long time ago with no conditions," a reader slammed Biden, commenting on the Daily Mail website.

"And you’re revealing this information now? What about the past six months or so maybe saved about 30,000 people?" inquired another.

"So all of this time it’s been known where these leaders are, and they have protected them while civilians die?" echoed a third.

"Joe Biden is trying to play both sides and he isn't doing a good job for either side!" jibed a fourth.

"If you were giving them all this money and ammo why wouldn’t you tell them in the first place where the hamas leaders were to save a few billion?" questioned a fifth.
