ATLANTA, GEORGIA: President Joe Biden has faced heavy criticism online after he reportedly made false claims while delivering a speech at Atlanta-based Morehouse College, a historically Black men’s college.

As reported by The Dispatch, the US leader said that voters in Georgia are not given access to water as they wait in line to cast their ballots.

He was referring to Georgia Senate Bill 202 (SB 202), which was passed in 2021 following the accusations of fraud during the 2018 and 2020 elections.

Joe Biden tells students 'they won’t allow water to be available to you’

He stated, “But let’s be clear what happens to you and your family when old ghosts in new garments seize power, extremists come for the freedoms you thought belonged to you and everyone.”

“Today in Georgia, they won’t allow water to be available to you while you wait in line to vote in an election. What in the hell is that all about? I’m serious,” Biden noted, before adding, “Think about it.”

Though there are some rules in the southeastern American state regarding the distribution of food and drink as people wait in line to vote, there are reportedly no restrictions on self-service water stations.

Federal judge partially dismisses the ban

Besides, a 2023 ruling dismissed the food and drink ban in the “supplemental zone,” which are regions within 25 feet of a voter standing in line.

US District Judge J P Boulee ruled, as reported by CNN, “Central to this conclusion was the fact that, unlike the Buffer Zone’s reasonable 150-foot radius, the Supplemental Zone has no boundary.”

“S.B. 202 prohibits organizations (such as Plaintiffs) from engaging in line relief activities in the Supplemental Zone, i.e., if they are within twenty-five feet of a voter—even if the organizations are outside the 150-foot Buffer Zone,” the federal judge added.

What does Georgia Senate Bill 202 (SB 202) say?

As per Section 33 (a) of the bill, “No person shall …  give, offer to give, or participate in the giving of any money or gifts, including, but not limited to, food and drink … on any day in which ballots are being cast: (1) Within 150 feet of the outer edge of any building within which a polling place is established."

However, Section 33 (e) also notes that “this Code section shall not be construed to prohibit a poll officer from …  making available self-service water from an unattended receptacle to an elector waiting in line to vote.”

Internet labels Joe Biden ‘moron’

People have called out Biden online for his speech.

A Facebook user said, “Joe knows so much that isn't. He knows so little that is.”

Another user commented, “Biden is a moron. How that guy ever became President is beyond common sense and cheating.”

Another user wrote, “Why have the Democrats and the Republicans done this to us again? Two lying bags of crud.”

“I hope someone is tracking all of Biden’s lies, especially the most blatant ones, of which there are multitudes. These should be enumerated in a series of political campaign ads. Effective!” an X user tweeted.

One noted, “Sure, it’s not illegal for a poll worker to put out an unattended cooler full of water bottles near the line. It is illegal for anyone to hand a water bottle to a person waiting in line.”

“Can't wait to hear if this was just ignorance or a lie,” another remarked.

A user added, “Expecting a Democrat to be honest, not to lie for some political gain is a bar too high for a low-class bunch.”

"Biden's fear-mongering is pathetic! Georgia's voting laws protect election integrity, ensuring every vote counts. Democrats like Biden would rather pander to their base than secure our elections," one user declared.
