LANSING, MICHIGAN: In a fiery exchange on CNN's 'State of the Union' with Dana Bash, Democrat Illinois Governor JB Pritzker passionately championed President Joe Biden as the embodiment of American values.

His fervent defense, however, faced immediate skepticism from critics who questioned Biden's integrity and moral standing.

Passionate defense of Joe Biden

"People understand that it’s Joe Biden that stands for American values," Pritzker declared, attempting to paint Biden as the quintessential embodiment of American ideals. However, this assertion was met with considerable pushback.

Pritzker argued that Democratic voters who support anyone other than Biden in the upcoming election are squandering their votes. He framed the election as a binary choice, dismissing alternative candidates such as Robert F Kennedy Jr, who has gained ballot access in Michigan and Hawaii.

"Does Kennedy being on the ballot there pose a real threat to Joe Biden's re-election?" Bash asked.

"Robert F Kennedy Jr being on the ballot in Michigan, I think, is going to have little effect on the ultimate result. People understand that there are really only two candidates that have a path to victory in this country and in Michigan. And of course, that’s Joe Biden and Donald Trump," Pritzker responded, insisting that the two had "very different sets of values."

However, Bash challenged Pritzker's assertion of a binary choice, arguing that Kennedy offered a third-way option for voters dissatisfied with both Biden and Trump.

"It's not a binary choice, and RFK Jr does provide a third-way for people who just don't like what Joe Biden, or even Donald Trump for that matter, but in this particular case, it's Joe Biden I'm asking about, don't like what he's selling," she said.

In a recent three-way poll, Trump narrowly led with 42 percent of support, followed closely by Biden with 41.1 percent, while Kennedy garnered about 7.2 percent of support, according to The Hill/Decision Desk HQ’s national polling average.

“I’m not suggesting there aren’t other names on the ballot. I’m suggesting simply that when people go to the ballot box in November, they’re going to see that there are really only two choices because it’s throwing away your vote if you’re a Democrat and you vote for someone else on the ballot other than Joe Biden," Pritzker said.

"And I believe that people will see that contrast of values that I’m talking about and understand that they’ve got to vote for Joe Biden if they want to make sure that the United States does not fall into the hands of someone who is frankly a sociopath, has been indicted 91 times, and is someone who would take this country backward," he continued.

The conversation then shifted to the topic of debates, with Bash questioning whether Biden should engage in debates with Trump. Pritzker criticized Trump's debating tactics, alleging constant falsehoods, while simultaneously praising Biden as a "terrific debater."

"Whenever I look at Donald Trump’s debating style, he lies and lies and lies and it’s so hard to respond to that in the middle of a debate," he said.

Social media backlash

Social media erupted with reactions following Governor Pritzker's eyebrow-raising remarks.

"I don't think anyone, except air heads, think that Biden stands for 'American' values. The man is corrupt, amoral, and lies continually to the American public," one posted on X.

"Everyday is opposite day with the Democrats!" another exclaimed.

"The lies and actions of this administration makes it clear that American values are not a priority. People see that he does not stand for them, he has redefined the values to be ugly and evil," someone else chimed in.

"Biden HATES America!" a comment read.

"It's called Treason!!!!!" someone else fumed.
